There is no way this one will be finished before Kingdom Tower!! It is not like they will start construction tomorrow!! When they say they will "start" soon, most prob it means draining the salt water that took over the location with the old masterplan of it and then there is all the other preparation needed to the site before they start piling

Yeah. I read on Emaar's website that it will begin construction in two months. Plus the first year will be just work on the piling and the footprint. Plus they have to get the site prepared and they haven't done that yet. I'm guessing kingdom tower is probably going to finish before this one. No worries 😊

The Dubai Creek Harbour scheme will also include a pair of rocket-shaped residential towers, which the developers say will be the tallest in the world.

So DCH will be the home of the world's tallest twinned skyscrapers + the world's tallest freestanding structure

Oh oh oh, so the twins did not get canceled after all

Wasn't it the same plot as the twins though?

They used to say the same about Eiffel Tower. I for one will wait for more detailed renders, and the actual construction before I judge it.

Sometimes patience before judging is good. But everybody has some "first sight moment" when you decides good or bad in a few seconds. Don't get me wrong i really like many of Calatrava's works especially the brigdes and futuristic looking train stations.
But this one (800+ or more perhaps) is literally much to high for Calatrava's style. For me it doesn't work in this extreme high vertical structure. Comparatively low but wide and long buildings are his strength.
But at last you're could be proofen rightwe will see...

I dont understand the hate... If a bridge and a skyscraper had a baby it would look like that... To to be this tall i can't imagine what its going to be like to see it in real life... We dont even have clear renders of the thing.... No one cares whats in the inside it wasn't nuilt for that...

The netting takes a little getting used to, but overall I like it. Calatrava says that the design is meant to evoke traditional Islamic architecture -- I can only take that to mean a minaret, or is there anything in that tradition that I'm not thinking of?

The other reference I could think of would be a Bedouin tent -- while not exactly Islamic, per se, it would make a certain amount of sense given the Bedouins have a significant population in the UAE.

I don't think the netting looks bad.
