Of course it is interesting to watch it being build and breaking height limits. But even more interesting will bw how it looks like in 30 years.
Stop trolling ... you just contradicted yourself in an pathetic way! This building has a HOTEL! Plus other functions not revealed yet ... like it or not this is getting built and is historical and you need to learn to read before you type nonsense of a post

This is basically a hybrid of a guyed mast and a skyscraper, and I can't think of any other similar building. This is indeed a special piece of architecture.

Being a landmark, having an observation deck, and being the world's tallest structure. Exactly like this one in 1888:

Most useless building? Matter of personal preference, I guess.

Any Idea when will it rise above the ground? (even expectations are welcome)
just to start the best part of this thread instead of these useless, hatred and jealous posts

Except it's closed at the moment, because the elevator doesn't work. We can revisit this conversation in 2019...

1.8 million people visited Burj Khalifa Observation Deck in 2013. This number has probably increased since then since more tourists visit Dubai each year. The standard ticket costs 55 USD. According to that, the observation deck made 99 million dollars in one year. So, this tower will also make huge profits from the observation deck. I do not see how it is "useless". The Empire State Building makes more money per year from its observation deck than its 85 floors of tenants.

As was said, we do not know the full programming of the Tower yet to fully make any judgements. While not the *most useful* building out there, as was said, the sheer money made from the observation deck, mall, anchoring properties around the district, not to mention the boost to tourism to the city in general make this a smart development.

Published by Besix on LI today, quote:
"Besix is currently building the raft foundations for... The Tower by Emaar at Dubai Creek Harbour".

The keywords are "is" (for Present Continuous) and "raft foundation".

Sure, but revenues is not everything. You also have to think about the expences. Maintainance and repair of this building will be horrendous. Pure nighmare.

Empire State is a simple structure and come on, it stands not somewhere... it stands in New York.

Don't worry no one is asking you to pay for it ... leave it to professionals to figure it out since they are building it somewhere .. called Dubai

This tower will definitely worsen the crippling poverty of the people of the United Arab Emirates, the desolately destitute sheikhs will have to cancel their meals in the soup kitchen and go begging in the streets full time, maybe they get five pennies to survive the day...

I do not want to spam so i make it short this way: This project (as a lot in dubai) is a giant bet and i would not bet on it.

I know. But that has nothing to do with the way money coming out of earth in form of limited oil and gas is spend.

you did not say one thing that makes sense from the first post you shared on this thread till now! just give it a rest since you have zero idea about Dubai and its economy.
