I thought Japan is one earthquake epicenter. It located on the edge of tectonic plate.

Can this construction collapse one day?

Tokyo could play host to the world’s first mile-high tower by 2045, according to plans laid out by an American architecture firm.

If the plan is approved, the ‘Sky Mile Tower’ would be twice as tall as the Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest tower in the world.

Kohn Pedersen Fox and engineering firm Leslie E Robertson submitted the designs as part of a futuristic development in Tokyo Bay, south-east of the Japanese capital.

The supertall would reach a height of 5,577 feet (compared to the Burj Khalifa’s 2,716 feet) and is designed to provide a home to up to 55,000 people.

How many proposals have there been for a Tokyo Bay tower now? There was one in the 80s by some Japanese group, then I remember another one in the 90s by Foster.

2045 completion lmao. By then we'll have 2km tall skyscraper, probably in Dubai. Taipei 101 opened in 2004 and was 508m tall, now Jeddah Tower opening in 2019 and is 1008m tall. In just 15 years tallest skyscraper height has doubled. By 2034 we will have a 2km tower

This project should be sent to archived section as vision.

At this rate, space elevators are more likely to be built than this tower :-/
Btw, I thought SSC doesn't do visions?

I mean, I kinda agree with you, but that logic is total BS. Sears opened in the 70s, so by your reasoning we'd already have 2km tall towers.

My post wasn't meant to be taken literally, but there is acceleration of height increase recently.

So we can only see the final construction by 2045. It looks very promising though but is this serious?

Residence of this tower will live always in suspense due to natural perils - not worthy.

Should be very much possible by 2040. Nobody before 2005 thought we would see 2000ft towers. Now we have several 3000+ approved megatalls projects

Structurally anything is possible, it's a matter if people want to be at that height. Really not practical in my opinion given the time it takes to get there and the cost of construction

TOKYO | Sky Mile Tower | 1700m | 5577ft | Vision

They have the 2019 rugby world cup, 2020 olympics and now this?...this country is rich but i think japan needs to stop wasting money...PS Im not really a fan of expensive sporting events or grand megaprojects created to satisfy our arrogance

Reposting this here as not everyone is reading back the earlier pages.
