what a world city SHOULD look like! I hope London follows the path, sadly so many of our european cities are afraid to go the modern way

That number is old, it's 486 towers uc/prep/app/pro in London now

Many European cities have historic centres though. They aren't going to knock those down so they can build some skyscrapers.

Nobody is knocking down historic buildings. European cities are full of post war concrete trash and brownfield post industrial wastelands, this is where most of the towers are built in planned central business districts like la defense, canary wharf and MISC.
London is different because it also has a central cluster alongside historic buildings and a CBD, and now there are new clusters going up all over the city, plus the singular towers all over, but all of that is also mostly replacing post ww2 concrete or barren wasteland. It's not an either_or situation, London has both old and new together, its how European cities should be
