Austrian Airlines has moved all the flight operations to Tyrolean Airways, including personal and the fleet (except for 1 777 due to traffic right issues).

They will reduce the costs because with the transfer of all the employees they will lose some of the rights they had at Austrian. The personal won't have a direct reduction of their salaries but the salaries are frozen for the next few years. New personal will also be cheaper as they will get smaller starting salaries. Therefor this will be a progressive budget cut that will start to reduce the costs over the next couple of years.

Lufthansa will launch 2x daily flights from Munich to Rotterdam as from October 1st.
This route will be operated by a CRJ700

As far is i have learned from local sources in Rotterdam, the flight booking are at a decent level. LH is realy statisfied. Let's hope for the best.

SWISS will open a new (or rather, again) base in Geneva.

It depends on the time frame, if they want to replace the A340s before 2016 the B747 is really the only option if they want to buy the planes. Otherwise they could possible find some 777-300ER that can be leased from the lessors that still have enough on order. If they want to buy it they will have to be lucky if there still some early production slots for sale, but otherwise it's joining everyone on the back of the line. The A350-900 and especially the -1000 is a bigger uncertainty since it's still some years of and there could be more delays and there's also a huge backlog.

So as long we have to wait for the new B777Fs for LH Cargo, let´s enjoy pictures of these freighters operated by AeroLogic, the only German airline which flies triple sevens.
AeroLogic is a joint-venture between LH Cargo and DHL Express.
