Heavy problems with the recently launched long-haul flights of eurowings out of CGN as there are a lot of cancellations and delays (13% of long-haul flights with a delay of more than 3 hours) due to crew and aircraft shortage.
Right now one A343 from LH and a B767 from TUIfly operating flights on behalf of eurowings. In the summer 2 more A332 will join the fleet to make it 4 in total.

CGN-DXB will be cancelled by end of March to free up more capacity for the other routes.

I tried doing a test booking for Singapore to Frankfurt Germany on Lufthansa. Problem is:
Every time, I selected First Class, no direct routes came up......and these required flights with other airlines and stop overs to Beijing, Zurich and god knows where.

Yet when I chose Business Class, LH779 popped up (which is the direct non-stop flight from Singapore to Frankfurt Germany)

What does this mean? Is Lufthansa not offering First Class on Singapore<->Germany fights anymore?

Yes I've heard Lufthansa was cutting on some First Class availability (similar to what Qatar Airways is doing).............but I thought that Singapore was a profitable destination for them???

What gives?

Some updates from the LH Group:

Austrian in April cancelled daily VIE-DEL and AI now offers 3 weekly DEL-VIE with B788. OS launched daily flights VIE-PVG B772 instead.

Daily VIE-NRT will be cancelled from 4th September and instead new route VIE-HKG with 5 weekly B772 will be launched.

Lufthansa cancelled Accra back in November 2015 and transferred flights to Brussels Airlines.

Launch of 3 weekly MUC-IKA and 5 weekly FRA-SJC delayed to July.

LH already grounded 4 A346 (D-AIHN; D-AIHQ; D-AIHR; D-AIHS) for 2 years.

Eurowings delayed the launch of 3 weekly CGN-BOS to June and 3 weekly CGN-MIA to September. From October 2 weekly CGN-SLL should be launched.
Lauch dates for of CGN-LAS & CGN-IKA still unknown.

Why did lufthansa grounded those a340-600s? Are they keeping them as back up? maybe they should consider retiring older b747-400s and keeping all a340-600s or launching new routes from MUC. However, they know why they did it

By year end Lufthansa will ground 8 A346:
D-AIHA, -HC, -HD, -HI, -HN, -HQ, -HR und -HS

Growth will take place in ZRH due to the introduction of larger B77W across the LX network. A359 will replace the A346 at MUC starting next winter.

LH will start 3 weekly FRA-CPT (A343) from 2nd December. On the other side MUC-CPT (A346) will served 5 weekly instead of daily (winter 2015/2016).

With the terrible situation in Venezuela, that's hardly any surprise. Who would travel there at this time anyway

LX received their first CS100 (registration HB-JBA).

Eurowings is considering to start operation out of MUC next summer. Up to now FRA and MUC are Lufthansa only but due to further LCC competition (especially in MUC) LH might transfer some flights to their LCC Eurowings.

Just cost cuttings and cancellation of unprofitable routes...

Eurowings won't resume CGN-DXB next winter and Germanwings cancelled STR-SXF.

Latest news:

Lufthansa will lease 40 aircrafts (or one third of the current fleet) from its rival Air Berlin starting next winter. This should include all flights of AB except from their main hubs in Berlin (TXL) and DUS.

LH will also cooperate with AB owner Etihad. Aircrafts should fly for Lufthansa's LCC airline Eurowings to enlarge their fleet, network and market share against rivals Ryanair, easyJet and others who might step in the German market in case AB would collapse as their quarterly reports still don't show any sign of improvement (despite ownership of EY).

With this expansion EW could be the third largest LCC in Europe after FR and EZY. Right now Vueling, Norwegian and Wizz Air are larger than EW.
