It's matter of preventing history which is not the case in Balkan since everything related to Ottomans was demolished afterwards. Bosnia as a muslim country prevented the heritage and that's how it looks like today.

For instance an exact copy of this neighbourhood in Istanbul was built in Theseloniki and what happened? Ugly appertments took their place today.

Well, friend I would love to be wrong, but I'm affrais I'm not,...
These Ottoman build. here are really classy and look like those in any major city in the world,...on the other hand Balkans look like this:

Tirana, Albania(city's main mosque -too small for all the worshipers)

Prizren, Kosovo

Not really. In 1697 Eugen of Savoy conquered and burned to the ground a good part of Bosnia, including Sarajevo. The city never fully recovered, under the Ottoman control that is. And all those wars we had in the past century didn't really help to preserve the Ottoman architectural heritage... Mostar city centre, Old town in Sarajevo and Travnik are a few notable exceptions.

i also was in my summer holidays there. It was fantastic and Istanbul was too hot (about 40 degrees)

Nice weather for chilling in a cafe and eating cold ice or drinking a cold drink while watching the atmosphere

Dear Sercan,

Thanks for the thread about old Istanbul, it's a good thing that the old city is preserved and being restored.
I read that in Ottoman times Muslims, Christians and Jews could coexist in peace in Turkey, is it still the case today? Is the Greek church in your image still used as a church?
