I wanted to see the population of other countires too.
That list is surprising.

Isn't it obvious? The list is usual led by China and India.

I still find it hard to believe that almost as many people live in Pakistan as do in Brazil. Anyone else here find that odd?

Egypt's 77.5 million is staggering when you consider how much of the country is desert

Vietnam is pretty crowded too considering its not the biggest country out there

I think it's because the weather of East & South Asia makes it that the place can feed more people.

Its the country with the biggest muslim population.

If the EU would be a real country, then it would be at the 3rd place.

I don't think this is the main reason. European countries could also feed more people than they have. I think it is more an educational and cultural case.

the monsoon in SE Asia and the super rich loess/river soils of China has historically allowed for two or even three harvests a year, so in effect the arable land area is at least 'doubled', and able to support the growing populations through the ages.

The pop of the philippines is close to 100 mil. I can't believe the country had only half a million about 500 years ago. During about 500 years, Korea's pop increased from around 10 mil to around 70 mil, only sevenfolds. The pop of China increased about eight to nine times. Japan's population growth is impressive, 'cause it was smaller than Korea until around 1600.

However, none of them are as impressive as the Phillippines' population growth, which is from 0.5 mil to 100 mil!! Unbelievable!!!

BTW, the pop of combined Korea will be ranked around 17th.

Most of East/South Asian countries are crowded because of high food-mainly rice-supply.

China (1.3 bil), India (1 bil), Indonesia (240 mil), Pakistan (160 mil), Bangladesh (140 mil), Japan (127 mil), the Phillippines (98 mil), Vietnam (83 mil), Korea (70 mil), Thai (65 mil), and Myanmar (45 mil)...

Imagine the politics of the world where these countries are all fully developed.
