The gold-tinted glass is repulsive. Hopefully the city won't allow a 70-storey Las Vegas casino to be built in the centre of town. Love the other developments in TA!

North Tel Aviv lot goes for $11m

The new owner may try to rezone the lot at Wissotzky St. for a luxury high-rise.

Ariel Rosenberg 13 Dec 07 19:18

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Zameret Tower Ltd. has bought from a receiver a four-dunam (one-acre) lot at 6 Wissotsky St., near Kikar Hamedina, in north Tel Aviv for more than $11 million, plus VAT.

Dirom Construction Company Ltd. (DROM) bought the lot in 2002, when the company was under its previous management. The company had a grandiose plan for a luxury 80-storey luxury high-rise on the site. When the company fell into financial difficulties, the hole in the ground was filled in to become a parking lot.

Dirom sold the lot to a group of foreign investors who had it rezoned for an assisted living facility with 80-100 apartments. Two months ago, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) asked that a receiver be appointed for the lot, because of a NIS 21 million debt by the two companies that owned it.

The lot is currently zoned for a building with 5,380 square meters of main space and 2,000 square meters of service space, including three underground parking floors. The new buyer may try to rezone the lot for a luxury high-rise to compete against the three high-rises recently approved for Kikar Hamedina, but this could take years.
