i think that gap to the right of the ping an builing should be filled with another iconic building... really would love shanghai's skyline to be extremely the best!!
Well, yes at least among the Shanghai forumers in skyscrapers.cn. It is even more hated after they put on the ugly logo.

And unfortunately that gap is Century Avenue, it will never be filled.

Pudong has too much green space and boulevards to be practical. They should fill in that useless, wasteful park smack in the middle of the development. And Lujiazui could really use a people mover or monorail that connects to the line 2 station.

yes it seems that Jin Mao stopped contributing to Pudong skyline after SWFC was built.

Normally their crown is lit. It will look even better if the building was outlined with lights! Here Jin Mao Tower while SWFC was still under contruction:

i agree, lujiazui is shanghai's new, great opportunity to establish one of the world's greatest skylines, so i think they should fill it up even more and leave the big parks and green spaces somewhere else in shanghai or maybe lessen the green space a bit. i personally think that lujiazui should be even denser. now that would be incredible.

I completely disagree with both of you. Parks are musts for large cities. That is why I like Shanghai skyline, those supertalls have some place to breath. Otherwise only thing you will see would have been someone else's windows.

i disagree, i think an area designated like lujiazui for business and fast paced vibrancy should have more dense skyscrapers. i don't think skyscrapers are well suited individually. Hong Kong (I'm not trying to compare but meh), is really dense and is amazing. Green parks and places should probably be moved more back or towards the further Puxi side. just my opinion

Lujiazui Park is surrounded by 3 'motorways' you just can't cross easily. There's nothing BUT office towers there, no shopping, no restaurants, no entertainment, no residents, no nothing, so the park cannot become a natural focal point - people have no reason to go there. Shanghai's parks and the numberous green spaces are simply too small, and located next to motorways, so there's nothing to do inside them. What Shanghai needs is something like Hyde Park, so big it's tranquill inside and you can actually hold events in them.

no shopping restaurants nothing? dang, i think that needs some changing. i've been to lujiazui twice actually and now that u mention, (i didn't really take much notice lol) that it was pretty empty around there. the streets were really bland and not many people (partly because of ongoing expo construction). it needs more side shops, active things etc...
yes and the roads are a bit too wide too making it more pedestrian unfriendly. if they have more neon light sort of shopping streets and narrower roads then it would make the place more vibrant and bustling with life. i hope this is the path the developers follow

The same shots taken on a beautiful summer's day.

Those office towers are the Hongqiao economic zone:

Yan'an Elevated Road and junction with Inner Ring Road:

Tianshan Park, Kaiqiao Garden and Yan'an Road West Station of lines 3 and 4:

Looking towards Zhongshan Park and Longzhimeng:
