The bubble burst long ago for Gold Coast. Does anyone still go there on holidays?

Too tacky for mine.

Some Highrise Density from Q1's observation deck - looking North.

@ BobDaBuilder - Your an idiot as always, can't you see that your own city of Melbourne is trying to emulate GC tackyness in so many ways. I mean take Crown Casino, GC all the way if you ask me, and what about Docklands – that’s just like GC, except without the people and the beach.

It seems Melbourne has just discovered "Tacky" while GC is rapidly changing and losing its cheap and tacky image for a more urban sophistication - especially at ground level.

As for the "Bubble Bursting" you put it there are more big projects going on in GC than in the entire state of Victoria!!!

Typical........
So whats so tacky about the Gold Coast from your point of view?

Obviously people are still holidaying on the Gold Coast because pax numbers going through the airport there are increasing at a far greater % than even the mighty Melbourne can't match.

It's interesting that Surfers Paradise on the GC is the suburb in Australia with the highest population density and growing quickly by the month. I think this is where we'll start to see the skyline have a peak with a dense core...can't wait!!!

I admit that the Q1 building is amazing, but the rest just look like concrete boxes with endless balconies. They all look the same. Shame they didn't try to develop a proper CBD behind Surfers, instead of the endless 'business parks' along the motorway.

Very dense. So Q1 is completed now?
And one more question: What is the real official name of the city; Gold Coast or Surfers Paradise? Cause on many maps it is called Surfers Paradise.

The city as a whole is the Gold Coast, Surfer's Paradise is a 'suburb' if you will (but probably the closest thing to a CBD that the Gold Coast has).
