I'm not surprised that LA would merge with LA county
If city of Los Angeles starting merge with LA county to become 1st Largest City in USA. LA population will hits over 10 million so its will suprassing NYC, Mexico City, London, Paris, Sao Paulo, Paris, Hong Kong and some other cities that are 10 million or less. Population will pretty closer to Tokyo.
I will not surprised if happening so how you feel if its happening today? |

That would be one big-ass city. I'm not sure how large LA county is but a city being the size of an entire county...That wouldn't be great for the whole "L.A. isn't sprawlville" image.

There's no way that would happen. Many cities broke away from LA for a reason. Plus, alot of cities have their own street rules(like Compton, even though it has the regular LA street numbers, they have Compton Blvd. to turn streets from North to South). I think all the beach cities do that, so they couldn't do that. Also, cities like Santa Monica and West Hollywood want to have their own image, so there's no way this would EVER happen.

Cities STILL want to break off I thought, speaking of which, are they ever going to try to disconnect the Valley or Hollywood again or is that all done with for now. They tried twice right?

Thats pretty much done with, they did not have majority support and there really isnt a push for it. Things are on the upswing in general and the main concerns are now ith regional problems, such as traffic, crime and education.

Why would L.A. city merge with L.A. county? Wasn't it a year ago that part of the (the Valley) city of L.A. wanted to secede? BTW, how close was that referendum?

It will never happen, LA suburbs aren't like many other cities burbs. The majority of them are incorrporated cities with their own mayors and local government. Now regarding LA spliting up, most everyone here already knew it wouldn't happen. In spite of LA lack of civic pride compared to other cities. The city still has a lot more pride than outsiders realize. Yes Angelenos can be very critical of their city, but they still love it and wouldn't leave. In fact most people I encounter in day to day coversation (I interact with the public) where I work will tell you they love it here. Many will add they have no desire to move anywhere else.

I don't even understand this as a topic. The idea has never once been mentioned as even a notion. It's literally a meaningless, bizarre thing to be discussing on a site that is supposedly taken seriously by it's members...
