Oh ho! Looks like AirAsia is finally following fellow LCC Cebu Pacific's lead of using the A321 to upgrade its fleet and finally end its monopoly of using A320-200s exclusively. I don't know if other LCCs actually operate the A321 on top of the A320, though... I can think of Jetstar as one. Unless we also classify Frontier and jetBlue as LCCs, though...

They are not happy with the early issues with the P&W powered A320neo's, which they refuse to take.

Btw, their Boeing fleet is big enough to not call it a mainly-Airbus Fleet. Their 60 787s and 777s (+ 60 777X on order) are the backbone of their long-haul fleet.

Go Air may ink a deal for another 70 A320neos at Farnborough but if not then they will sign later this year. They will be PW variants and they may yet take some A321neos as part of the deal.

Qatar is now "actively talking" to Boeing about a deal for 25-30 737s, a mix of NG and Max aircraft, he says. "We would also look at 737NG because the Max is still not certified."

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...s-amid-427249/

Akbar considering NG 737's, now I know for a fact he's BSing on this deal. He is not the type of buy old air frames. He's just trying to get attention in his usual manner.

Why would he go with NG 737's when he already has A320 family CEO's?

He's bluffing. A MAX order would put him light years away from any kind of air frame, and Airbus could sell his NEO slots today at the show.

China's Kunming Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of 10 Boeing 737 Max 7s.

Boeing says the Chinese carrier would become the nation's launch customer for "the improved" 737 Max 7.

Indian low-cost airline Go Air has chosen Airbus for its further expansion plans by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 72 A320neo aircraft at the Farnborough International Airshow.

I thought Wow Air has already had business with Airbus before with its five A330-300s... maybe a first direct order
means the airline will own those aircraft outright, not leased through lessors. By the way, which lessor owns its long haul fleet?

Aha! That seals the deal. Looks like so far, my prediction of so many narrow bodies on order seems to be running great so far. But, in that case with AirAsia, 240 seats with a 3-3 configuration means it will have 40 rows or so, which can take a bit longer to board and disembark than the A320... and it will have to produce a new safety on board card for that new aircraft instead of producing just one for all.

Volga signed a MOU for 20 747-8F last year at the Paris Air Show, it seems that said MOU is now a firm order of which 15 aircraft are yet to be completed (Volga already operates 8 747-8F and is going to take delivery of a 9th that is currently being shown at the Farnborough Air Show).

When the dust settles Volga/AirBridgeCargo/CargoLogicAir could operate up to 24 747-8F (5 ordered in 2006, 3 in 2014 and 16 in 2015) becoming by far the largest operator of the type.
