I really wonder how would they (country) will cope with these projects with their economy, which is collapsing pretty badly.

I am hoping that the Middle East countries will deversive and start investing massive amounts of money, billions of dollars in renewable energy particularly solar with battery storage, build heaps of mega solar farms to make electricity to run there cities and build desalination plants to produce fresh water so as they can farm.

Oil as we know has become out dated, old fashioned and is polluting the planet. The sooner they which to renewable energy the better.Electric cars are the future, there is no long term future in oil as internal combustion engine cars are about to become a thing of the past

Renewable energy to make electricty is now cheaper than oil and gas,the massive dam wall that is holding back solar and renewable energy from becoming mainstream and the norm is about to collapse

Indeed, And they can also make money out of selling electricity which was produced by Solar panels since the Middle east is mostly sunny.

Here we are talking about a very majestic building, it's twice the height of the Kingdom Tower

I think skyscrapers race has started stronger in Riyadh

That is American propaganda to serve an agenda! Same idiots once said in 2000 by 2013 we won't ever see snow again but it still snowing hard in America, Asia and Europe.

More reliable source that serves no political agenda, latest studies show the possibility of a mini ice age with decreasing global temperatures in the near future.

The older design seemed more interesting, somehow. Though Riyadh is already full of egomaniac designs. Let's hope they manage to build a sustainable economy, they're still all realiant on freaking petrodollars. Almost no innovation, research and industry there.

I like the slender new design. The old one is just brutal.

The old design doesn't look like a megatall, it looks shorter than makkah clock tower 601 m

Very interesting architecture. I was wondering... Is there any threat of terrorism in such a city?

Bit of a strange name for a skyscraper, especially in that location. When reading the sentence "In Saudi Arabia, The Blade rises towards the sky", one scene springs clearer to mind than anything else: some guy being beheaded for insulting the royal family.
