TORONTO | 1 Scollard | 229m | 752ft | 59 fl | Pro

So New York!

1 Scollard, a 59-storey condominium designed by KPMB Architects for the Cityzen Development Group on Yonge Street north of Bloor in Downtown Toronto.

Public art installment - Frank Stollery Parkette

Wedge-shaped parkette on the west side of Yonge Street between Scollard Street and Davenport Road. Built as the forecourt to Lotus Condos by Shiu Pong, and designed by landscape architects Vertechs Design.

Now the site of a proposed redesign by the developers of 1 Scollard Street, and new condo across the street to the south. Redesign by Martha Schwartz Partners of London, England, who were the designers of nearby Village of Yorkville Park in the early 1990s.

Love this one. Astonishingly, Yorkville might eclipse the traditional CBD cluster in the not too distant future. Good height, interesting architectural mix, and top notch quality. What's not to like?

The public realm art component is sublime and a marvelous juxtaposition: forest meets the manufactured. Very Canadian imo.

432 Park Avenue redux. This "minimalist architecture" fetish needs to end. Very ugly...just like 432. The good thing is it won't be as prominent. At least the bowl with the trees is creative.
