Lexington Kentucky
Okay, I'll start a thread on Lexington to post pics (lots of them
) etc...ALSO let me apologize in advance!! I have a lot of pics and info. I take a lot of pride in where I live so I hope I don't bore you. I love being a vistor in my own town and if you have any questions ask, if I don't know -- I'll find out. Some pics are repeats that have been posted in polls, etc...some are mine own photos and others are from web. Lexington is the second largest city in Kentucky, and continues to grow steadily.. The city pop. is 260,512 (Census 2000), with the metro over 500,000. Some place these number at closer to 300,000/600,000. Lexington is centrally located in the Commonwealth, 74 miles east of Louisville and 81 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Within this “Golden Triangle” lies the majority of Kentucky’s total personal income and total population. Part of Lexington’s unmatched charm is the close proximity of the area’s rural surroundings to the metropolitan conveniences of a dynamic city. Taken from Lexington Visitor Center website: (Lexington in a nutshell): ![]() A cool pic from the Lexington Vistor Center's Meeting Planner Guide cover!! ![]() ![]() ***come back offen for more...

I have never been to Lexington, but from the photos I've seen it appears like one of those underrated places. Thanks for posting these pics here

^Thanks! I'll keep posting..I can't wait until spring so I can take some new photos. Keeneland Spring meet starts April 8th...you should come up for the races...nothing like spring in the Bluegrass and horse races! Last edited by krosejr; March 25th, 2005 at 06:10 AM. |

Thanks for the thread! I lived in lexington for about three years and loved every minute of it. Matter of fact, I created a website about it called lexingtonskyscrapers.com. It no longer works, but I took all the pics on there myself. I moved to Nashville and had to let the site and domain name go after the inability to keep it properly updated. Nevertheless, it was definatly a learning experience. Great pics again, and a couple of those I took LOL!!! Good to see that they are making their way around the net.

Did you know....
Do you enjoy a good P&J sandwich? If you love JIF all JIF peanut butter is made at the Lexington plant...head down Winchester Road on any given weekday afternoon and take in the sweet smell of peanutbutter!!
![]() Fazoli's, www.fazolis.com/company_information/ started in Lexington and its headquarters are here. Long John Silver's headquarters were in Lexington until 2002 when bought out by YUM! Brands, Inc. They are now in Louisville. If you wish to keep a hard copy of this thread then print it on your LexMark Printer.... Lexmark International was founded here in Lexington and headquarter is here (the old IBM campus). Have you bought that $2.45 per gal gas lately or got an oil change? If so was it a product of Ashland Inc./Valvoline. Their world headquarters is in Lexington. The Council of State Governments, the National Tour Association and the Association of Retail Travel Agents are national organizations that are headquartered in Lexington. Also, The National Horse Center at the Kentucky Horse Park is the national headquarters to 14 equine associations. Just a some cool info to share with ya.

Lexington is alot larger than you would expect it to be ... those are pretty cool shots. I like to go on the terraserver and look at the satellite pictures, they are from 2002 though and you can already see they are outdated. Do you think the Lexington MSA could rise to 700k by next census?
