Auckland should try to urbanise more, built denser (blockrand) and go for mixed-use developments. Some nice projects already, I'm eager to see more!

It really is, in fairness. A long way to go but some impressive stuff is happening, particularly in the inner fringe and along the water. With the Unitary Plan recently passed, there will likely be an accelerated pace of infill development in primary and secondary hubs.

Great to see this thread! Im a Londoner living in New Zealand, and as beautiful as the mountains are, there are not many (well, none..) skyscrapers in Christchurch and I actually miss them ha! Of course Auckland is where any real high-rise development will be taking place in NZ, and now I can follow it thanks to this thread 

Also great to see the expansion of rail services in the city too, something which is severely lacking in NZ. In Christchurch there is no commuter rail, and the bus services are awful. The answer to growing congestion is just build more roads or expand existing roads. This in spite of the fact they have existing rail lines that could be used for commuter rail running though the city, yet they always choose not to do it despite talk and demand for it. Such a car based society it baffles me. As cities grow, building and expanding roads is just not enough, heck, in most cities many big roads + mass transit is still never enough! Great to see Auckland developing and expanding this side also
