where is Jumeriah in that Pic? in 1990 there was nothing there? and so where were the Expat community, paticularly the Euopean community living back then? where the Schools loacted back then?

Damn, Its about 15 years ago.

I'm glad that Dubai has changed into biggest and growing.

Its much better than in 1990's but its very bored in 1990's too.

i was in dubai from 1985-1990, and dubai was still the best city of the gulf back then too. like for shopping, entertainment, etc.......
afcourse but it is much better know.

many people say it's a boring skyline because it's just one strip
i have to agree it's not the best skyline, but when we talk about dubai we have to associate it with future.

dubai will get one of the most incredible, if not the most incredible skyline worldwide
and we're not too far away from that

a visual introduction imagined by dubai-lover. you're invited to join my imaginations:

start your ride at dubai festival city where a few dozens of towers will be built

go direction deira and pass by the small skyline along the creek

now we can speed up a little bit on sheikh zayed road...
...when all plots have been built up along szr it would be a 4km+ strip of high-rises and with the hundreds of towers in difc and business bay,... you better buckle up!

when you exit the szr skyline please look forward again. when dubai marina,jumeirah lake towers and dubai media city are finished you will even be able to see this monstrous second skyline of dubai. enjoy your ride through this canyon of towers. if you don't mind have a look on the towers on palm jumeirah.

just turn your head to the left a little and you'll be able to see another hundreds of towers coming up in dubailand.

take a ride direction abu dhabi and you will go crazy having 850 towers around the new airport.

now turn your head to the right towards the sea and you will lose your mind seeing another hundreds of towers on dubai waterfron and palm jebel ali!

now it's your decision: take the next interchange and do this thing once again or head towards abu dhabi and the al raha beach development, the pearl,....

if you still have time be sure to visit manama and doha. to save time take the hundreds of kms of causeways and be impressed by another hundreds of towers coming up in these two cities!

My father has been in Dubai for on vacation since 1982 and twice again in 1992. He said its got bored if you staying there for 2 weeks. UAE is used to small country in before 1990's.

There is no McDonald's in Dubai since he was in there but McDonald's is come to UAE in 1994.

seriously, i only know the one at crowne plaza and just because i walked past it when i was takinf photos
otherwise i would have never realised. the last thing i'm watching out for is a mc donald's and other "swallow the fat crap" stuff

i didn't even realize the one in city centre!
