HANOVER | Public Transport

Good Morning,

Do you know the lightrailsystem in Hannover?

The undergroundstations look very ugly. They have 19 undergroudnstations.

http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/u...-hannover.html

What is your opinion to the system?

I found it very useful and pretty much a great system.
Metro-like (=underground) in the city center and Stadtbahn on the outskirts.
Pretty smart if you ask me. Sure the stations may look a bit old now, but its not dirty or devastated.

Travelled from HBF to Stadionbrucke last year and what struck me the most was how clean the trams were.

clean?

Some Undergroundstations are more ditry than in Valencia or Ruhrgebiet.

Look this is the metrostation like Valencia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_90GIqho93U

And Hannover

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ZIMCzRCHo

What I also find a pitty is that Hannover didn't build a full metro like Nuremberg.

Realy? Where is the dirt? I can't see it.
What you showed with those two videos is an older station in Hannover and newer in Valencia, but even in Valencia it doesnt impress me much.
The thing is, that Hanover has an old design. That's all - it's not dirty, it's just old.
The same as your grandma doesnt look as awesome as your mother, but it's not the matter of being clean or dirty but it's the age.

I guess they didn't have the money to clean the stations nice like Spain.

I find the metrosystems in Spain very great and clean.

How do you find the frequency?

As a local, I can say, that the Stadtbahn-system in Hannover is pretty good.
And no, it's not dirty. It's as clean, as you can purpose public traffic stations to be.

Yes, the design is a bit old and not everybodys tast (including mine) and some are even ugly, but at least it's a great system.

Hanover PT is far better then Nurembergs one. Why would the build metro system when tram system works very well.

Well in other citys you also have real metros like France like Lille.

It is not big but has a real metro

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lille

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An4NyJhn7PM

A metro woudn't stuck in traffic.

I'm always happy to drive with a real metro. Like Nuremberg Munich Hamburg. But I also find trams nice but not in tunnels. They should run overground only like in duesseldorf.

That is a weird point of view for me.
Trams are often very slowly when overground in the city center, and i found always awesome the idea to put them underground in the congested areas and let them run on the surface outside of old town.
The german Stadtbahn systems impressed me a lot!
I think separation of the public transport from the regular road traffic is a good direction.

Tram routes in Dusseldorf run underground and overground. Dusseldorf doesn't have a true metro system either.

Exactly. In fact, Düsseldorf has both a Stadtbahn like Hannover, as well as a tram system. Both of them have underground and street level portions to them, so this analogy really shows a lack of understanding...

What is problem running for trams in tunnels? I think your posts are quite childish and nothing more.

As a Hannover resident - on what you are talking here??
the system is very clean - some stations could be cleaned at their walls - but they are in service vor 25 years or more, and such cleanings is not easy.
if someone don't like to travel by tram underground, then visit only full subway cities!
we in Hannover are happy with our system!

If you travel through the world you will see the differecne between clean underground and dirty. I'm no Hannover hater i'm not living there, but I didn't find the underground beautiful.

In Essen Dortmund you will have something like this:

The Stadtbahn in Hannover does not stuck in traffic even overground. It's seperated from the car-taffic nealy completely.

And I also don't know, what dirt you mean. Public traffic-systems are always kind of dirty. That's normal. It's not like Hannover is more dirty than other traffic-systems in Germany or even in the world.

I bet, you have never been to Hannover and so never used the Stadtbahn.

Maybe it is thought by some people, that the Stadtbahn stations look more practicable than very attractive. From my point of view central parts look older in the 70th style built, which probably could use a kind of renovation to make them visually more attractive and modern.

I never used the Hannover Stadtbahn but can remember when I was 10 years ago in the city that I saw the Waterloo station, which looked for me in terms of the entrance part not so attractive than other cities have "metro" stations.
