Bring on the dancing fountains!
The "Dancing Fountains" are definitely a highlight. The video also makes it clear that this would be free aspect viewable by all.

Picture 'Jan and Dave Omaha' in town for a holiday. Miapolis was a whirlwind for the couple---the experience of a lifetime---but after laying out big bucks for fine meats and cheeses their budget needs a break.

Enter the "Dancing Fountains." All cares washed away in a free, orgasmic frenzy of light and sound.

With the addition of 'Telly Savalas Island' this will be the greatest urban project in history---even greater than the epic and challenging ski slopes of Dubai.

Get lost, nimby's.

The dancing fountains may also be just enough to make you forget that the transit plaza doesn't seem to include any transit.

I also liked how when they were talking about the private beach they showed a couple embraced in the solitude of an empty beach. Bullshit! That beach is going to be tiny and there's going to be THOUSANDS of people on that island. Jan and Dave Omaha may be able to stake out a few square feet for themselves, but not much more.

This appears to be a little more elaborate than a student project though. www.miapolislp.com has a list of partners that, if not just an elaborate hoax, is a pretty solid group.

This proposal is perfect in my opinion; quality design that would bring the world's tallest building back to the US, in Miami, no less, while at the same time being ripe for satire. Few buildings can boast equal levels of architectural and comedic value.

I stand corrected. Apparently, Miapolis will boast trolley service to PAC, Bayside and South Beach.

I did. And I've scheduled a viewing party for friends and family for this Friday night. All are welcome.

I heard they're making it into an IMAX film.

Yeah, it does...like a graduate school project!
The hard copies of the Verticus business plan was floating around a few years ago and followed the same formula as the Miapolis project. Looking at the Verticus plan, it appeared that the creator(s) had covered nearly all the bases; architects, financiers, engineers, sales & marketing, environmental, traffic studies, etc.
Given all the private/pubic interaction necessary the plans would never fly. But they are good plans, and thorough.
People spent a great deal of time to create them...That can mean only one thing...the plans were created by idealistic students under age 30!!!

Apparantly miapolislp.com was a development site. I see progress at the new site www.miapoliscity.com. I hope this takes off, we need the jobs here in South Florida.

Verticus was nicer. I liked the blue rather than this ugly brown gold thing. They can't take Jungle island away!

It would make a great lighthouse for the cruise ships coming in to the port.

I thought we were going to use the 600-foot Telly Savalas statue for that purpose...

I'm a Business Major, and just the fact that they have a section on the website called "Business Plan" and the different sections like "economic impact" makes it look like a school project. Pretty good one at that! Like someone else said, maybe graduate school. They always make us do this kind of stuff for my classes, find out all the different aspects of creating a fictitious business.

Although this looks nice and everything, it's just too much. It's redundant. Let's say this is far in the future, it would be better situated somewhere inside the ocean, as the technology becomes safer for underwater living.
