Google Earth is not enough. Better to fly to HK and see it for yourself

Beijing's skyscrapers are very scattered, and doesn't form a skyline per se.

However, the classic 'skyline' is the view from Jingshan Park :

It'll be a lot cheaper if bought in Hong Kong. I wouldn't even consider buying Hong Kong books on Amazon.

I hardly but any books or CDs in Amazon unless I can't find it here.

Anyway, back to skyline. Here are some HK skyline pics from one of the photographers I admire the most, H.L. Tam

Look out for new towers coming up around this part of Hong Kong Island, as the MTR West Island Line will be constructed soon and developers are likely going to cash in and build some residential complexes along the stops. The abbatoir to the right of the photo is slated to be redeveloped.

Here's a pic of Mumbai, taken from the u/c Bandra-Worli Sealink

You can see the two rising skylines: at Worli in the foreground-left, and at Parel-Tardeo in the far background-right:

There are 3 main areas in South-Central/South Mumbai developing a skyline:

In blue is the main area of skyline development. It's going to be anchored in the south by the 105 storey equivalent India Tower. South of this area all the way to the very tip of the island are Mumbai's historical districts. This blue area will see some slum redevelopent, but its mostly redevelopment of old mill land, chawls and old midrises into mostly residential towers. A cluster of about 10-15 45-65 storey towers is under construction as of right now, and that's only a fraction of the land that will be redeveloped in the next 10 years.

Parel looking towards Tardeo:

The area in red is what you saw in the picture in the previous page. Mainly old chawl and slum redevelopent into superluxury residential towers. This is rapidly going to be one of Mumbai's elite residential areas.

Parrel looking towards Worli:

The area in green is going to be the second anchor of Mumbai's skyline. This is where the Dharavi slum lands, airport slum lands and other chawl redevelopment is going to take place. This is Mumbai's Pudong circa 1990. It will be Mumbai's central business district with most probably supertall commercial and residential towers. Its It is just south and will eventually connect to the IT/tech corridor of the Bandra-Kurla complex just north of it.

In about 10-15 years, these three seperate skylines will eventually connect to form a huge skyline.

I suppose it is...hopefully in the next decade Mumbai's skyline will connect, as Jai said, and rival others for the top spots! Time will tell...hopefully the old bureaucrats will die off faster and be replaced faster by the youth!!

I don't think anyone doubted HK's supremacy - best skyline in the world, no doubt about it

Exactly, no one is doubting HK's take on the title - Best Asian Skyline.

Which is the point - they were taken by an absolute amateur

Any city can be made to look gorgeous using incredible photography technique (heck, have a look at some of the threads in Cityscapes).
