Wow, is that the Aurora building being built in the Shanghai photo in post#2762?! Talk about ancient...people have gone from being single, virile young men to decrepit, diaper-wearing grandfathers bitching about their pension plan since that photo was taken!

Hong kong skyline is the best in china as well as the world.
It has numerous amounts of skyscrapers, many of which exceed 50 stories and numerous ones that exceed 75 stories as well, and HK skyline is really dense, which makes it the clear winner. The surrounding geography augments the presence of HK skyline.

But yes I do agree that HK would be #1.
It's just that it's full of ugly buildings blending into the beautiful ones.

Hey most HK scrapers are not that ugly. Its a combination. HK has some of the most iconic skyscrapers in Asia as well as the grittiest high-rises and middle-class tower blocks. Now thats what you call a skyline!

Hong Kong certainly has the most impressive skyline (due to the effects of density, the number of skyscrapers and with the mountains and all), but is that the same as the best skyline? Architectural value would also have to be taken into account.

If ImBoredNow (post 2767) would be correct then why have this discussion at all?

There are plenty of examples, from I.M. Pei's Bank of China to Foster's HSBC. Quite a lot of good examples to show.

I don't think sheer amount of skyscrapers is what makes a good skyline.

Hong Kong's is very nice but it's very strung out along the coast and dated in parts. Also I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of greenery along the waterfront.

Shanghai's is very nice with its gleaming metal and glass fašades, its spires too, makes it quite futuristic. Although it does lack a certain density.

HK has the BoC which is argubly one of the most iconic skyscrapers in Asia. Other than that, there are lots of iconic structures around the city. The only thing that lacks are supertall art-deco buildings.

Shanghai though has the advantage in this one but they are not as tall as the ones in NY or Chicago.
