I've only been to North Asia (Tokyo is my favorite city!) and I was wondering about quality of life in the major South Asian cities. Singapore has a reputation for being immaculately clean, but doesn't seem to have as much fun as, say, Bangkok. KL looks pretty clean, too. Which are the nicest, most fun and interesting ones? I love museums and beautiful architecture, as well as interesting, cool neighborhoods with cafés and original shops. Having McDonald's or Starbucks or big Louis Vuitton boutiques doesn't mean much to me. Which should I visit first?
#1 Bangkok!!! We went up the Baiyoke Tower and saw the massive BKK skyline.

after seeing the photos of this thread, now I know where my next destination is..... Kuala Lumpur See you soon (May or June)

Sigh you didnt get the point. I was trying say that after seeing the Petronas Towers there wasnt much for me to do.

Menara KL was underwhelming..the idea of me being at a very tall observation deck was "nice" but the place itself was dissapointing (the facilities look outdated even the minizoo seemed out of place)

The CBD felt empty and wasnt as interesting (street scene) as that of Makati or Raffles

Same goes for the malls and bukit bintang (with the exception of Pavilion KL which was nice)

but yeah, from the pics KL can be really "photogenic" esp with the twin towers lighting the night sky...and this thread is about asian skylines lol

Again Im just basing it on my 2 short trips to KL (the last one was last CNY where we stayed for 3 days) and im not bashing KL per se

Bang! filipino is always being typical filipino. overpatriotic

go ahead, feel free to promote that 'WOW Philippines' tourism campaign. no one will stop you.

anyway, i think KL is boring. better go to Bangkok for a so-much-fun-so-much-thing-to-see trip.

sigh, if we can only discuss things here without regional pride then this topic could have more open minded posts..

I was just saying that walking in the financial district of Makati and Raffles was more interesting than my walk from Pavilion KL to suria KLCC

who is actually showing 'regional pride' here? not me. some peoples have their preference on which city they like and which city they don't like. and i don't think pointing ur own city as better than other city is something 'open minded'.

funny thing is that Im not even from Metro Manila nor do i have any sense of pride for that city. I was merely pointing out the experience I had with Makati and Raffles Place verus that of KL's golden triangle

I cant help but mention Makati because ive only been to 3 major cities (Manila, Singapore and KL) and found it and Raffles more pleasant than that of KL

like I said, im not bashing KL per se but was just airing out how the city fell short of my expectations. Im sorry (if) you are from KL and i hurt your pride for your city

yeah, funny too that a filipino denying their own capital. for your information, i went to that Makati last October but, do you think i need to point out my 'experience which fell short of my expectations' here? and should i do the same to HK which i visited last month?

you already out of topic when making this thread as 'city vs city'. this thread is for skyline, my darling...

Im sorry for going off topic, I was just replying to the earlier question anyway..you made this a CvC as much as I did by accusing me of being regionalistic when I was just relating my experience

Like I said, if we can only post without regional pride then maybe the thread would be more pleasant.. Can we not post as Asians instead of being Filipinos, Malaysians, Indonesians and not post in fear that we are accused of just "loving our own"?

OMG congretz gaining lower credibility status.

and before you 'bang' once more, even though I am Filipino I have spent enough time in Makati to say that it really did have a pleasant street scape. However, I shall not compare it to KL seeing as how I've never set foot there, BUT I have also been to the cities mentioned in my signature and I can safely say that the Makati STREETSCAPE can be comparable to that of these cities except Calgary which totally looks like a ghost town in most occasions.

And seeing as how you contradicted your argument by stating the bolded words above, you should probably shut the f*** up now.
