As for now, I don't think there's any skyline in Asia that can beat HK. Probably in the future, Shanghai can match HK.

In terms of the mass of skyscrapers, Shanghai, Seoul, and to some extent Tokyo have a much bigger continuous sea of buildings than Hong Kong because of geography. Hong Kong's buildings are scattered due to the hilly landscape. The skyline is split up between the typical harbour areas that all the tourists see and the residential skylines in the outlying areas. Ironically, it is in those residential areas that tourists don't typically see where the densest layouts are found.

Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo have a bigger metro area than HK thus have a continious sea of building.

Except for Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo doesn't have much height compared to HK. Also, HK's skyline is well presented and is more breathtaking

That's the thing. Tokyo's skyscrapers are very scattered though I find it more organized compared to Bangkok or Seoul.

Also, since Tokyo lies in a major earthquake zone, it's skyscrapers aren't as tall as well.

BTW, what if Tokyo didn't lie in a major earthquake zone, will it as vertical as HK or even taller?

My top two Asian skylines are:

1. Hong Kong
2. Singapore

It also has to do with how much each of the cities is decentralized. Hong Kong is a far more concentrated city than Shanghai, Seoul, and Tokyo. Population-wise, Hong Kong can be better compared with Seoul. Yet Seoul's built-up area is far larger. They have hills, but also a lot more flat land.

Shanghai's skyline is actually best seen from the elevated highways throughout the city rather than from the Bund.

I think Seoul has a larger population than HK but HK is denser.
