That's what I said Dubai is in Asia. But Asia has alot of region like South East Asia, South Asia you know what I mean.

Dubai the no.1 skyscraper city? It has to beat HK before it can do that. But even if Dubai buildings alot of supertalls, it can't match HK's density!

Correct. The Middle East is a REGION in Asia.

I think this is what DG means by "Asian Culture":

While the Middle East:

I hope you know what I mean.

It CAN match HK's density. I just hope you don't get depressed when it might actually defeat HK someday.

well anyway i think Mumbai should be up there somewhere

its growing pretty decent, dirty, but decent, gor character and lotta projects planned

BTW THIS DOES NOT MEAN I DONT THINK HK IS NUMBER 1

we discuss about best skylines in asia here, if you think mumbai skyline deserves a place on the top, show us your photos... it's not people to people issue here, if we think our very own manila skyline is nice, we have the right to think so and it's our prerogative to think that way... i hope this sets things right...

as for me, best asian skylines are:
1. HK -no doubt
2. KL
3. Shanghai
4. Dubai and singapore

whether you look at political, geographic or "whatever" map there is, these cities belong in asia...

sadly, other cities not mentioned here like manila and mumbai hadn't had something for a visitor to remember... unlike the four cities i mentioned above... what makes the skyline at its best is that when it is instantly identified and when leaves a mark that will always be remembered as "GREAT" regardless if one sees it on TV, on photographs or even by merely thinking of it.. and that's exactly why manila, mumbai and other pretty capital cities didn't make it to my list... although both our cities and the others are nice IMHO!

No not at all, they're just skyline you know what I mean

Anyway, lets compare

How can Dubai match HK's density? It will take them several years to create a skyline as massive as HK or even NY. Even if their amount of construction and project, it still can't beat HK in terms of density and quantity.

Dubai has a long way to go before it can compete with HK.

That reminds me, Dubai's skyline reminds me of Chicago. They both have the same layout.

By the time Dubai will have a HK style skyline, almost everyone here will be walking with canes unless they jog regularly

So you haven't been to HK? Punta ka dito sa tingin mo magugustohan mo

I was suppose to go with my uncle when I was 7, but I had to move to the States with my mom.

I will try to beg my mom to bring me to HK someday or probably next year. I don't have much of a choice being 14.

I would be nice stopping over and staying for few days. Alot of pinoys do that especially from the US, they stopover HK and then fly to Manila.

HK is without a flinch BEST Asian skyline....PERIOD and for the next 50 years and so!
Dubai skyline is just one over stretch skyline, what density? especially when it compares to a city like HK that is on the island!!! Lets not over pan Dubai's ego! Try capture its skyline from the angle where each towers line up right behind each other along that boluvard, you will realize there is no such thing as density in Dubai! It is more of 2 lines up(Dubai) for the show and not a crowded line up(HK)!

this 3D was made by malec. shows part of the skyline of Sheikh Zayed Road and Business Bay in 10 years or less from now, (no Dubai Creek, Dubai Marina, Jumiera Lake and Dubai Woterfront skylines though).

From the look of it, Dubai's highrise density match more that of Chicago instead of HK or NY. Even less than 50 years, Dubai's skyline might be equal only to HK Island. Note that HK has several highrise developments happening especially in West Kowloon.

Dubai definitely deserves to get the title of "world's tallest city" because of The Burj and other supertalls sprouting around. But showing the best skyline isn't all height but also density, presentation and quantity.

If Dubai wants to be in HK's level especially density and quantity, the city should build skyscrapers everywhere not just in CBDs and new towns or developments.

NY may not have the world's tallest buildings but its still one of the top 3.

Let's see in ten years what dubai looks like. But even with that possible skyline it can't match what HK is today IMO.
