Nice panos Bangkok has some of the best skylines in South East Asia.

But this still wins the crown for Asia

It's not even fun with HK in the game
It makes all other skylines look tiny, xcept maybe for some Chinese ones

Here dizflip:

The building is quite far from central Bangkok, so it's probably not possible to locate it in the other photos.

Thanks a lot. The building is very unique, but IMO they shouldn't have made it boxy.

Yup it's very unfair for other Asian cities with HK's skyline presence. But unfortunately, HK is still in Asia.

But other Chinese cities like Shanghai may still give an unequal comparisson to other Asian cities.

i think bkk just need a focal point n grouping at least 300m highrise in order to become an Ultimate skyline.

Bkk's skyline is nice but it lacks organization. The skyline is too scattered. I think it would be nice if the city's tallest were located along the Choa Praya river along with the Baiyoke II

Yeah some heavier clustering would be nice. There are a large number of buildings taller than 50 storeys going up now but the problem is that almost all are located away from existing tall buildings.
Most of all I'd like to see the riverside area emerging as the main point of focus. There is not much there at the moment but a riverside skyline is always nice. "The River", 73 + 43 storeys, and Watermark 52 + 28 storeys will be of some help there, but more is needed

I think there's a hi-rise condo trend happening in most Asian cities. Probably in the future, Asian skylines will be dominated by residential towers than office ones.

By the way, what year would you like to discuss? Because city skylines are so dynamic, you need to be specific.

I just returned from HK. HK has many gleaming and shining supertalls but in the same time it has sooo many dirty, old, shabby third-world buildings. Airport to Macau Ferry Terminal bus-ride gives you a great impression of HK, but Try to get to area around Tsim Cha Tsui MRT station or Kowloon MRT station and you will be surprised on how things mess up with dirty and smelly streets !

Comparisons between HK and KL

Airport: I love HKIA very much ! Soo many shops, very quiet, professional staff, very high-tech with convenient internet and phone access. I personally think KLIA has better design than HKIA but the service in HKIA is much better.
HK > KL

Public transportation: Octopus card is very convenient ! HK has good MRT system, but its not extensive given its huge population of around 7 million. There are only 2 or 3 stations on HK Island !! Bus service is good .However, public transport in HK is very very expensive. KL also has the same transportation standards like HK, especially since the formation of Rapid KL integrated system which combined both bus and rail service under same management. But given KL`s small 1.5 million population with rail coverage similar to HK ( although you need to walk a long step to transfer into another line ) , KL wins hands down. Price is extremely cheap. For only RM 2 ( HKD 4 ) you can get to everywhere in KL by bus for the whole day !

KL> HK

Skyscraper density : HK > KL

Overall quality of life: KL > HK

there is atleast 14 stations on hong kong island, and i think there transport system is exelent!! easy to find any place you want.

been to KL tones of times and there i always take the taxi otherwise i wold just get lost. good thing with the mrt in hong kong is that every station has good pointers to all building places around that station, somthing i realy miss in KL on the monorail.

good thing with KL is that its alot more easy to walk around and find your way since it not as dense its easyer to see where you are going .

but its two extreamly diffrent citys both with there ups and downs.

Bangkok's decentralized layout makes skyscraper spotting quite interesting. I got to travel to many parts of the city to see some nice iconic buildings - both the elephant one and the robot one near the river. Then there are both modern and traditional buildings along the river to bring on some contrasts.

This is the eastside of HK Island. This district includes Chai Wan and Siu Sai Wan.

The eastern part of Hong Kong Island doesn't have that many supertalls at all. Aldrich Bay is technically part of Shau Kei Wan, and Chai Wan is nowhere represented in that photo.
