I always thought Manila's skyline is really Makati. There isn't another area with such a mass of skyscrapers.

Nope they have like 3-4 main cluster though makati is the biggest one.

Other than makati, rockwell and bgc are one of the larger one.

Still no cities can beat HK in asia in term of skyscraper

There is!

Bonifacio Global City, though beside Makati is forming a descent skyline.

There are also the high-rises along Manila Bay especially within the tourist area of Ermita and Malate.

Even in Makati, high-rise clusters are developing outside The CBD particularly Century City and Rockwell. Plus Circuit which a new commercial development built on the former Sta. Ana race track.

Rockwell Centre

Midtown Metro Manila includes the skyline clusters of Ortigas Centre, Mandaluyong and San Juan. Ortigas Centre is currently the 2nd largest and 2nd most important CBD for Metro Manila.

Uptown there is Eastwood City

New satellite cities and commercial developments are happening in the suburbs particular in Southern Metro Manila. Notably Filinvest City and Madrigal Business Park.

Filinvest City

Everyone, please excuse me for the length of the images but here are some panoramic shots of Metro Manila all taken by me!

Note that some of the images here were taken years back. Much has changed and more high-rises are built!

Downtown, Makati to Manila Bay.

Midtown to Uptown Metro Manila including the skylines of Mandaluyong, San Juan and Ortigas Centre

Eastwood City to The Grove by Rockwell

Towards North

Eastwood City to Ortigas Centre

Southern Metro Manila where I live

From GMA, Cavite

From Manila Bay

Rockwell is actually small!

There is no doubt that HK arguably has the best skyline in Asia and its cityscape, both natural and urban helped in this one.

Plus height and its collection of skyscrapers.

But it is more maintaining its position as nearby Shenzhen is creating a skyline that can rival it!

Yes there is!

there are others almost similar in size.. Ortigas and the new Bonifacio Global City (BGC for short)

BGC is expected to surpass Makati in terms of being the "MAIN" CBD.
Even the Philippine stock exchange has already plans in moving there.

this is Bonifacio (catching up really quick to Makati )

This is my favorite CBD in the Philippines.

BKK no doubt..

2nd?
If based on this LINK, It is Manila (only by a few hundred points, but hey, we don't have commie blocks), then Singapore, KL, Jakarta

If you asked this question last year, 2nd is Singapore.. Manila surpassed Singapore's score just this year 2015.
Few years ago.. even KL is ahead of Manila. Manila did a lot of CATCHING Up only in the last 5 years or so...

Both Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta can easily surpass Singapore in the next few years...
South East Asia's growth have been spectacular in the last decade.

** When i joined SSC, Manila's ranking is waaay below... it is a pleasure see it's continuing growth every year.

here are the scores from 2009-2014 I've saved
Points

But prob with manila they have makati, ortigas, bgc, etc and all these are separated. Only makati and bgc quite close to one another in pic.

So manila need to have more points to connect their skylines and also manila need distinctive skyscrapers like marina bay sands, uob plaza and mbfc. maybe soon they will have one

Yes KL and jkt catching up fast. They might overtake sg soon. However this year sg experiencing construction rapid expansion in financial cbd after halt in 2011.

Same with Singapore.. most of the time (if not all) it is just the Marina Bay in the picture.

and there is no rule that a city can only have 1 skyline.. IMO - the more the better lol
and it's all about vantage point and perspective. I've seen a complete Metro Manila skyline taken from the sea and from the mountains.

'big' but if u put it into large place, then divide into 5-6 CBDs, it will no longer big. u can check out Manila-X pic in this page, theres really big gap in between. Bangkok have better compactness as u can capture the whole skyline of bkk easily.

for singapore yes from marina bay sands this point of view u get to see about 80% of singapore skyline.

Makati alone is already a decent size.

and besides, I kinda like how BGC is divided with Makati skyline.
It's unique.

there are pros and cons with all skylines. You cannot please everyone's criteria.
Manila is unique in its own way, and I like it.

btw - that first Singapore pic isn't seamless/continuous as well..
the second 1 is.. but isn't as pretty as the Marina Bay vantage point.
