BERLIN | Werkbundstadt - Charlottenburg | Prep

33 Architects are planning to develope an new cityquarter in Berlins district Charlottenburg near the Spree.
Today they presented their plans.

Einfach genial. Ich bin begeistert und hoffe, dass man dieses diverse, urbane und anspruchsvolle Stadtviertel so realisiert.

Why do you have doubts about the feasibility of this project? Isn't Charlottenburg a popular residential area with lots of new projects?

Seems way too ambitious for today's Berlin. There is a big line of similar projects that never were realized or realized with like 15-20 years delay.

About what kind of projects are you talking Tiaren?

I think the Werkbundstadt project here has really concret plans and with 33 architectures they have massiv know-how.

I hope this one will be built, this is everything I would want from a 21st century city. It feels really urban, it has plenty of modern architecture, but there is still some connections with historical and traditional. Just perfect.

Well, we will see...
I read in a report that Patzschke, Nöfer, Kollhoff and Kahlfeldt are among the architects. The who is who of Berlin's tradional/classic architects. Excited to see their designs. (Even if they will never be build. )

These look so good and there is such a diverse design style! It is what a city is supposed to be!

Absolutely. There's a great chance this will put Berlin on #1 in the New Urbanism world map.

Btw @Ludi, check your first post, it includes some German comment. Maybe you could also add the link to the designs there.

Can someone post a Google Map / Wikimapia link to the location of this project? I would really like to know where the Werkbundstadt is going to be located.

Here it is, next to the combined heat and power station (Heizkraftwerk Charlottenburg), where some storage tanks are placed: https://www.google.at/maps/place/Am+...a0b123d589d480.

And yeah, judging by the model presentation it seems like a great project. Keeping fingers crossed for this one!
