Sadly there aren't that many which combines it with interesting historic architecture though like Bergen does, but there are some.

Well, scenic Ålesund and its lovely Jugendstil cityscape pops to my mind.

Trondheim and Stavanger don't look that bad, either. Oslo, well Oslo...

My objective and honest opinion is that Helsinki is in the absolute top

A dense pocket metropolis located on a peninsula boasting diverse yet beautiful architecture. Surrounding the peninsula are over 300 islands.

Wow, Helsinki looks exactly like what I had in mind when thinking about nature mingling with the urban environment.

Does living in Helsinki lend itself to a greater intake of nature into daily life? I even had a thread once for this question: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1677099

I would say nature is a major part of the life of most Finns, even helsinkians, to the point were people try to block new developments in the name of protecting nature. Anyway, as depicted above the city is surrounded by nature which can be accessed quickly and easily. Especially the archipelago is hugely popular during the summer, and in the winter people tend to take walks or skiing trips on the ice. Some of the islands closer to the city are populated, the biggest of these being Lauttasaari which is home to over 20 000 people but can still boast beautiful and unspoiled nature. There is also the Central Park (Keskuspuisto) which protrudes into the inner city from the north. Twice the size of its namesake cousin in NYC this really isn't a park but more of a forest, however, it is quite loved by most helsinkians. Personally I love the contrast between all this and the built environment which is still dense and urban - and gaining mass as the city is growing quite quickly. Still, if you arrive in Helsinki in July you will probably find the city quite empty as most people leave for their summer cottages in order to be able to enjoy nature in complete silence and solitude.

Hope this helps

A Norwegian town I quite enjoy from a nature/urban perspective is Risør. It is located quite south in Norway so it is not surrounded by mountains like Bergen, but I think there is something rather beautiful in the way the white historic urban fabric of the city contrast against the blue sea and the green hills that surrounds it. It is also among the better preserved places in Norway - it was neither bombed nor burned down during ww2, and it have mostly been left unharmed by modernistic redevelopments too.
