Well, many Toronto forumers have doubts about it getting built, mostly because it;s done by an amateurish developer who does not really know what he's doing. But I have faith and I'm sure he'll pull through and get this baby to rise. The tower has been re-designed and the new re-launch date will be May 26. I've heard that construction should start in Sept. this year and will be complete in 2008, according to a source. The condos I believe are somewhere around 40% sold I think.

And what conflicting reports?

What's depressing when I think of Toronto is the lack of really tall buildings constructed. Toronto has been in a boom for about +9 years, and not one super tall to account for. So many tall projects have been around the block and not a single shovel in the ground. IMO Toronto lucked out with 1KingWest. I get the impression the only reason for its height may have to do with the small floor plates.

I often find the building with all the hooplaw get all this media attention but often don't get built {aka Bay/Adelaide} while tall condos and mid size building go up in a hurry around them.

"Wow, this building is supposed to be a marvel, those hanging pods. "

Yea...and I noticed they have completely covered the whole bottom of the building, so you can't see them building it inside. I think this building is one of the sleepers of all the new buildings going up around downtown. The rendering looks boring...the real thing already shows great details you can't glean from the render. I mean com'on...the architect is no slouch after all.

Personally, I think it would be great if we could offer incentives for developers to build higher... Stumpy 20~ so storey buildings don't interest me anymore.

Toronto has a lot more than "stumpy 20 so storeys" going on. People usually just notice the shorter buildings and don't think much about them but they do add density. Toronto has some tall ones too, Here's just a list of what's tall or of decent height:

Trump Tower: 70s 1066 ft.
Sapphire Tower: 88s
Ritz-Carlton: 53s
1 Bloor East, 60s 714 ft.
MLSE Towers: 52s and 48s
590 Jarvis: 45s 487 ft
18 York St. 37s 449 ft.
N1: 42s
Harbour View esates: 49,41,36,26s
Met: 43 s 415 ft. 35s
Murano: 34s 374 ft, 41s 459 ft.
London: 33s and 16s
WestOne: 49 or 55s
Uptown: 48s 518 ft.
Festival Tower: 42s 514 ft.
Minto Midtown: 524 ft. 379 ft,
ROCP: 52s and 45s
SP!RE: 45s 475 ft.
Signature Tower: 69s
Hummingbird Centre Tower: 50s
One City Hall II, 50s
Pinnacle Centre: 40,41,45,30s
33 Charles Street Easr, 43s 453 ft.
verve, 43s 433 ft.

^ You meant the glass building posted by Skybean in post number 195. It is a University of Toronto building.

Well, there's also the MaRS complex just across the street from these.

It will also be joined by one more buiding with the same height as the taller one.
