If only all the skyscrapers in the GTA would accumulate in the downtown area, then it would look like Hong Kong perhaps..

I think the Sapphire Tower is the tackiest design I've seen so far. How many people actually like the design? I don't think Toronto will have a Hong Kong style skyline, and I hope it never does. I like Hong Kong's skyline because it's Hong Kong's, but I'd prefer a more tapered skyline as opposed to a really tall wall (not to say Hong Kong's skyline doesn't look cool). Something like that just wouldn't be Toronto. So far I find The Uptown, Trump Tower Toronto, No. 1 Bloor East most appealing in their design. I just hope the city doesn't overdo the glass skin buildings, otherwise we'd end up with something like ---------. (Psst - I like our streetcars)

This site has renders in threads all over, this thread just look back at the older pages, the Toronto Forums, www.skyscraperpage.com , www.urbantoronto.ca , www.torontohighrise.info , www.urbandb.com , even www.emporis.com has some

And 184 Proposed buildings... I know many of those are cancelled or have no chance at getting built but that's a crazy list.

BTW: Amazing Pano pic Skybean, imagine if Cityplace West had 10 cranes up all at once.

^Emporis is still alright, the most accurate and complete database for buildings on the web so far. You can still navigate teh site by going page by page, checking the recent construction status pics, and knowing what you want to search for.

The Tower on the left is West One, the tower on the right is N1 (125m / 410ft) which should begin construction soon as well given it is 100% sold.

Also a rendering of the Met (126.5m / 415ft. ) which began excavation last week:

I copied the whole lot from SSP, but I have no idea where TOBOY obtained the render from.

Then you should try torontohighrise.info ,tons and tons of proposals and approvals but most of them don't show renders. Good site nevertheless.

I know someday will object to this as either silly or impractical, but I think that Gardiner Expressway should be removed at least in downtown Toronto. I have been there and it really cuts off the waterfront from downtown. Instead they should have a waterfront subway or light rail line and replace the highway with a park.
