I'm dying to see that shot pov from a higher elevation but I haven't managed to break in to (or scale) those Cherry Beach warehouses. Imagine if you could see this angle from 100 feet up.

That's the Hummingbird Tower condo proposal, it's about 50s and 619 ft tall. Here's the old proposal designed by HOK. Since then it has been redesigned by Daniel Libeskind but no new rendet has been publicly released yet, but rumor has it that it looks like a walrus straddling a pole.

New home market rises high in July

TORONTO, Aug. 22 /CNW/ - The high-rise condominium apartment market
continues to run as hot as the summer weather, rising 27 per cent in July
,
Julie Di Lorenzo, president of the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association,
said today.
There were 3,371 new homes sold in the Greater Toronto Area in July, up 5
per cent over July, 2004. High-rise condominium apartment sales were up 27 per cent while sales of low-rise (single-detached, semi-detached, townhomes) homes declined by 4 per cent.
"The stellar performance of the condominium market in July is consistent
with what has been happening all year long," Di Lorenzo noted. Through the first seven months of the year, the high-rise market is up a whopping 39 percent while the low-rise market is down by 11 per cent. Overall, total new home sales are up 4 per cent compared with the same period in 2004.
High-rise apartment sales represented 36 per cent of total sales in July,
down slightly from the year to date average market share of 40 per cent.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Low Rise High Rise Total
July July July July July July
Region 2004 2005 % Change 2004 2005 % Change 2004 2005 % Change

GTA 2,240 2,157 -4% 960 1,214 26% 3,200 3,371 5%

The GTA new home price index remained stable at $386,133 for low-rise
homes and $284,598 for high-rise apartments.

The index is essentially the average asking price of all the remaining
new homes and condos currently available for sale, as calculated by RealNet
Canada Inc., the GTHBA's independent source of new home market information.
The new home price index is based on currently available new home
offerings, weighted by remaining inventory, for projects of 15 or more units,
excluding ultra-luxury product across the GTA.
The top five municipalities in the GTA for June were Toronto (1,080),
Brampton (526), Mississauga (279); Vaughan (219) and Markham (216).

Speaking of Libeskind...What is happening with the Hummingbird project? I find it a bit odd- all that fanfare a few months ago and now absolute silence.. Not to criticise Libeskind or his office, but an overall rendition of the project, could have and should have been done a while ago.. Well, i guess then again, the developer is also responsible...

Would like to see something happen with this project..whether its just the tower and a minor renovation to the centre...!!

Honestly, these condos are huge, but i don't think they are beautiful! At least nothing more beautiful than the condos in Vancouver that most Torontans often bash!

Lol, that's why many forumers also refer to Cityplace as "Mini-Vancouver".

while it is not very visually appeasing right now, it should look a bit better when it is complete. The signature tower is very unique, and would be in the middle.

I hope they re-design the Signature Tower. Right now it's nothing unique, just a huge generic, phallic tower.

HVE towers are looking very...green in these pics. Even though they are tealish in real life, I wish they started using more blue so the buildings have more diversity in colour.

Actually these are toronto's fastest selling buildings. So no they will not be Vacant. Toronto builders usually do not begin building a tower until its 60 or 70 percent sold.
