Looks like a well designed tower to me. The base looks fairly substantial in the render, unlike the 1 storey podium of HVE III and other Cityplace buildings. The flat top is awkward for me, I would have liked to see a regular box. I am hopeful, however, that this thing is built.

The information I had on this project is from late June, so things may have changed a bit since then - but I'll re-post what I have on the project.

I have a day time rending and the hat doesn't look nearly as large as this night time rendering. The hat doesn't extend beyond the outer glass walls of the tower - it appears to be flush with them. The exterior looks to be all glass and fairly reflective.

The developer is Cresford Developments.
There will be 416 units + penthouses.
240 units were released for sale to Brokers in late June, of which 138 (58%) of those were sold - subject to the 10-day rescission period. I'm not sure how many of those sales were confirmed. Although I would suspect that about 25% of the total units in the building have already been sold prior to public launch this fall.

The tower is 45 stories and is designed by Architects Alliance. Interior design is by Architects Alliance with furnishings by Armani Casa.

Of the first 240 units released on floors 6-25 the average per square foot price is $335. Parking is $22,500 and lockers are $3,500. Occupancy is targeted for October 2008.

9 foot ceilings on floors 6-41 and 10 foot in the penthouses on floors 42-45. Floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows. The tower will include a 5-storey glass-walled furnished lobby. The five storey podium base will also include above-grade parking

Thats good for you but if you live in Toronto you'll see that there are plenty of commercial buildings in Toronto. They're already up and now they're building residential buildings to increase the population of Toronto. And now under construction is The Trump Tower in Toronto( Bay and Adelaide). The skyline is booming so don't say there arent any commercial buildings when there is First Canadian Place, Td Canada Trust Towers(3) Canada Trsut Tower(1) Scotia Bank tower, BCE place, CIBC Building, RBC Financial Towers(2), Bank of America,etc.......So think before you speak.

Wow... both buildings are damn good additions to the areas they're proposed to be developed in. It spreads the height around downtown core of the city nicely.

A) That's elliot's vision of the Bay-Adelaide Tower.

B) I'm guessing you mean the tower next to the Signature Tower (of Cityplace). That would probably be elliot's vision of the Shangri-la tower. I don't think 1BE would make it in this render since it's a little more north.
