LEEDS | Hume House | 126m | 40 fl | Pro

Hume House - Student Residences | Leeds
Residential | Arena Quarter

Thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1957909
  • Address: Wade Lane, Merrion Way and Tower House Street LS1

  • Architect: Nick Brown Architects

  • Floors: 40

  • Height: 126m

  • Developer: Knightsbridge Capital

A new proposal for Leeds, a student highrise on the highest point of the city. Whilst only 130m, this building will stand out on the skyline within the growing top-of-town cluster.

A few proposal renders from Subliving on the Leeds sub-forum:

May I add a point to clarify? This building is not called Hume House. Hume House is the existing building on the site. This tower will replace Hume House but the name has not yet been decided.

Yep! I meant to add this to the description but it totally slipped my mind, cheers!

Love this building! There's not one detail I don't like about this. I like the Yorkshire gritstone especially.

I don't why there's some darker and some lighter material though. Is it going to vary in different places?

I like how it says on 4.26 'the reflection of the buildings neighbors will compound there relative lack of quality' - are they talking about Opal and Arena Point? - mwahahaha

Hi LeedsG, in the conversations I've had with the architect, he described how the side panels will change colour as it goes up the building. So the lower part will have a darker colour than the top part, but it will be a gradual effect.

That may explain why there are differing colours in the drawings.

4.26 is probably a dig at certain neighbouring buildings. Hume House is intended as a modesty screen!

Wow, you spoke to the architect?! How come?

I like Nick Brown Architects. I like there website.

I think you can see a gradual fade in the renders now that I look at it again.

Year, Opal is completely completely hidden by this development from Briggate. Nick Brown must not like it either!
