Ulm

I really couldn't decide in which of these cities I would have preferred to live back then. They all must have been so beautiful. Vengence will be mine!

Architecturally speaking, this is one of the most depressing threads to look at. But there are more...

But at least you're now able to drive right thru the heart of the city.

Yes it is definitely depressing.

Though not everything was as rosy as it seems. On photos it all looks like a fairy tale and from above almost like a perfect culmination of "human" urban planning.

BUT in daily life the density was simply "brutal", so were the (more and more) living conditions. Stress and social conflicts were also a result of 19th century urbanisation to a huge degree, especially in so called Mietskasernen. One should not forget it.

Bombing those cities is of course not an answer. It is a shame.

Golden , just Golden...I'm speechless toward the beauty of classic Germany, what a Civilization , hard to tell even if there weren't Wars the whole Cities architecture would be preserved like that ? humans thinking evolution have been going since the beginning of time , we always want to out do or simplify things of the past in order to make life ''easier'' ...that's why now we have skyscrapers , but I just can't get over those extremely beautiful architecture . Thanks for sharing Mr !
