I don't think that an architect can be compared like that to a painter or a musician. Because you can avoid the music or the art you don't like, but not a building.
And in any case a lot of architects have a completely original style but they were able to build beautiful or interesting architecture. Gehry to me looks just he tries hard to be strange and original, forgetting at all about beauty, context (ok this is a problem of a lot of modern architecture) or functionality.

I know it sounds like the most common stock answer, but I really don't dislike any architect's style. I just dislike bad architecture (and that can be from a lot of architectural styles that I otherwise like).

But I think there are a few architectural styles that consist exclusively of bad architecture. My main pet hate is the kind of buildings that Zaz posted above in post #20. There is a lot of this stuff in US city centres, and nowadays an even worse version of that style is being replicated in Central Asia (more white than beige though), the Arabian Gulf or other places.

Another style that is exclusively bad is gypsy palace style, but that one is bad in a way that makes it interesting, almost likable in a way.

What do you mean with you cant avoid a building?

I think the 'beauty' of Ghery work is in its complexity and weirdness. It's a not conventional art hence not a conventional beauty. It's not just a matter of trying to be original.

Knowing to apreciate the unconventional is a hell of a skill. I think that is what i admire the most from him. Have you ever wonder why shitty music is the most popular?

Though most of his works aren't really appealing to me, there are some i find interesting:

it means that if I'm listening to Captain Beefheart or Sun Ra or Ligeti I can do it with headphones, or with a volume not so high to disturb other people. But if you can't avoid a building if you walk near it or if you live near it.

I'm a big fan of Bruce Goff, John Lautner, Gaudi, Antti Lovag, Reima Pietila and a lot of unconventional architecture, if you think that I don't like Gehry just because I can't appreciate strange architecture... it's definitely not because of that.
Frank Lloyd Wright used to say "a highbrow is a man educated beyond his capacity" and "I don’t like intellectuals...They are from the top down, not from the ground up. I’ve always thought of myself—of what I represented—as from the ground up."
He said this talking of a certain modern architecture made by people with a high erudition who made buildings more according to theories than to the feelings caused by the building. Gehry to me is a perfect example of that.

sure, but Gehry is not neglected at all, he's one of the most popular archistars in the world like Calatrava or Libeskind, Norman Foster and few others.

I'd agree with you regarding his last works - but come on, he was over 90 years old. His building, up to Brasilia, are wonderful.

Congratulations on finding the worst possible photo of any Niemeyer building.

And it's dishonest to say that value-engineered radio center is anything like Niemeyer's typical style.
