WUHU | Public Transport

The first major Chinese urban transit monorail system contract since Chongqing was awarded to China Railway Group Ltd./CRRC for Metro Line 1 and 2 in Wuhu on December 22, 2016. Last year Canada's Bombardier Inc. and the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) expanded their relationship to join forces on international bids, and Wuhu appears to be the first Chinese monorail win for the team. The Wuhu system is slated feature Bombardier's award-winning INNOVIA Monorail 300 trains (similar to Sao Paulo Line 15 and Riyadh KAFD).

From the various articles I've translated from Chinese news sources, yes, monorail was selected for at least Lines 1 & 2. Things change though, so I keep hunting the Net! Here is a reference article dated March 2016 stating straddle monorail as the selection for the city: 'Wuhu Is Authorized To Construct Rail Transit'...

Wuhu monorail contract awarded

CHINA: Bombardier Transportation announced on December 18 that its CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems joint venture had been selected to build two monorail lines in Wuhu and supply 240 cars.

The 50:50 joint venture between Bombardier Transportation and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen would supply Innovia Monorail 300 rolling stock under the 1·8bn yuan contract, covering two lines that are planned to open in 2020
