I have some new pictures of Zagreb, most of them have nothing to do with Down Town but I am to lazy to open new thread for them

BTW, Bubach, maybe you should rename this thread into Zagreb - general photo thread.

Ohh nothing is wrong with Knin....I mean, it just looks a little bit less pretty than other Croatian towns

Oh yeah, now when we made a salad of this thread, you are asking me to rename it?
I would gladly take this into consideration, but at the same time how it is gonna look putting pics of rough looking New Zagreb and romantic Upper town next to one another? Okay, it is not like we havent done it already, i just think that Kaptol district, upper town and downtown deserve threads on their own only. But you are welcome to open a Zapresic or Donja Dubrava photo thread

BTW, only mods and admins can rename the name of a thread, so i am helpless here

Very nice guys. Some of those streets are bringing back memories such as Miramarska which was where I entered central Zagreb for the first time via car. It passes beneath the main rail line between Glavni Kolodvor and Zapadni Kolodvor.

That corner in Crnomerec also looked familiar.

I have a question. Where are the classy residential districts built before WW2 that consist of free standing houses like some of the above in Tuskanac. I'm sort of familiar with Pantovcak since my Mum's sister used to live there for years and I visited there often enough. Thats all I can remember.

Those were built all over the city, but i would say that predominantly you can find them above Ilica and Britanski Trg - in districts such are Pantovcak, Tuskanac, Cmrok, Jabukovac etc, then in Salata district above Vlaska, Kaptol, Upper town - Gradec etc etc etc

I really want to go to Croatia again!
When I returned from Istria in 2003, I thought, I want to live there when I'm retired. I stayed there in Medulin for a few weeks and visited Rovinj, Porec, Pula, the southern tip of Istria (hmm I forgot the name)...
Does anyone have pics of this most beautiful region in the world (after Flanders of course :-p)?
And maybe heights of some Croatian buildings (for adding to my List of High Structures in the World)?

Thanks for your nice words about Istrian region

You should've visited Istrian inland parts as well, in my opinion they are even prettier than the coastal parts

Labin :

or Motovun :

..and many others

Bubach_hlubach I think you asked once for pictures of Vrbik. Here are few of them. I personaly don't like Vrbik because it's building on building.

Apparently, the problem of exterior renovation of some old buildings in Zagreb is being solved the following way: An advertising company will approach a certain building in the need of renovation and offer to pay all the costs in exchange for the advertising space. They cover the scaffolding in their advertisements for the duration of renovation time. Needles to say, these works take longer than usual to complete. Does anyone know more about this? Not a bad idea IMO, as most occupants don't have enough money to share the cost of renovating the facade of their building.
