No, actually they aren't buildinh both towers at once. It was always the plan and idea to build the base and parking for both towers at once.
As you can see in the most recent photos, the north tower is now taking off and the south buiolding is stopped at the 9th floor, which is as far as parking goes.

Hmm.. it's not my favorite style of architecture, BUT it does do an EXCELLENT job with the vernacular style of North Lake Shore Drive, even though it doesn't have to. I like it.

^So I understand why they put up two cranes because of the podium construction but do you think they will just keep the second crane standing until they get the go ahead to begin the south tower?

...Wait... I just read the thread title so I might be a little thick headed this evening but is the south tower now u/c too!?

Both are under construction, yep. But the south tower will still go up after the north tower. Even though the south tower is on pause, enough of it has been built that it's considered "under construction."

I love this building's architecture! But I am also afraid that I will feel it dated 30 years from now. Reminds me of one of those terrible 1960s highrises in Edgewater.

Technically the status of this tower could be considered "ON HOLD". There hasn't been any activity on it for the past 6 months. Maybe before the end of the month I will go to the sales center and ask them when construction on the south tower will resume.

^Fair enough. I was just going by the three main developmental stages we use here (proposed, approved, under construction). If we want to introduce the intermediate "On hold" phase, I'm fine with that. But it also implies that construction may not necessarily continue. And we expect construction to continue, don't we?

I think "on hold" is a good category to have (it certainly would have fit The Claire for a while, or the MBC right now).

Also, I don't know that I agree with this tower feeling dated... it's pure modernism which never really goes out of style. So, it might not feel as cutting-edge as some others, but, it will always be in style.

Obviously, the views from the front units will be nice, lake views, but what will you see from the other units in the back or side?

Dunham Building

The short building behind 600 N LSD (the one the developer refused to incorporate into 600):

Is it it a landmark building?

What's in there?

Any ideas on what happens to it now?
