Story about cleanliness on Japanese trains-

I got on a train in Tokyo at the first stop, so the train was about to make another run. I noticed someone had spilled a cup of coffee on the floor from the previous run, so I thought "man, that's pretty dirty". A conductor walks by and notices it, but the train was about to leave (and trains try to never run late here).

The next stop, the train pulls into the station and 3 railway employees are waiting at the exact door where the coffee spill was, mop it up in 10 seconds, and the train proceeds onward. The conductor must have radioed ahead to clean up the spill.

How's that for cleanliness?

I think many places mentioned beforehand become invalid because of the ratio to people and wealth and urban sizes. Ratiowise i guess it must be Japan.

Will this thread turn bad? Almost all predecessors to this thread have turned bad because people differ in opinion as to which country is the cleanest, because they define cleanliness in different ways (best in government effort to keep cities clean, best in terms of clean energy sources, best in terms of clean industries, recycling, best in people effort to keep cities clean)... Though all clean in different ways, it doesn't mean that if you are not the best in cleanliness in one way it means that you are not the cleanest country in others...

I'm about to have another case of Japan-withdrawl syndrome.

Ive traveled to many countries ; it`s definitely Japan.

Singapore is only a tiny island, of course its super easy to keep it clean, so it should not be included in the list.

Here's another train cleanliness story from Japan-

I was riding the Inokashira Line in Tokyo at night and a drunk passenger pukes on the seat cushion. Ugh. Someone tells the station attendant at the next stop, but they have to keep the train moving. Two stations later, 4 train workers get on board, clean the vomit area, and unhinge the seat while the train continues along. Then at the next stop there's 4 more workers waiting with an extra seat cushion and they install it quickly. Within 4 stops, they cleaned and replaced the mess all while the train was kept on schedule.
