Not bad at all for a suburb. If there was a "Best Suburban Skyline" thread, Mississauga would be king.

I'm not so sure about that. How many buildings over 500 feet tall or 152 meters are there in Mississauga? There are 8 here in Sunny Isles Beach with 3 more under consrtruction.

Perhaps, Monroe Towers are the tallest here, look on the forum for Interlomas and Santa Fe, both are Mexico City suburbs, you will like it

Good point. I think the 3 suburban skylines to watch in north America are Sunny Isles, Mississauga, and Burnaby (a Vancouver suburb). Here's how they stack up right now.

150m+ Built, U/C, Proposed
Sunny Isles 15
Burnaby 5
Mississauga 3

100-149.9m Built, U/C, Proposed
Sunny Isles 14
Burnaby 20
Mississauga 21

Sunny Isles has the edge in the 150m+ category. It will be interesting to follow these 3 over the next 10 years.

Santa Fe-Interlomas ( Mexico City Suburbs)
150m+
Built: 4
U/C: 4 (one is 200m+)
Prop: 4

Total: 10

100m+
Built: 30
U/C: 15
proposed: estimated 20

Total: estimated 65

I don't think it's a bad idea, but I also don't exactly "approve" of these suburban skylines. It's just lipstick on a pig as far as I'm concerned. Mississauga in particular was one of the most sterile, god-awful places I have ever visited, improving skyline or not. It's an anti-urban wasteland and I despair for humanity if that is the direction we are going for globalized development.

EDIT: In defense of Mississauga, my "tour guide" was a complete BOZO and absolutely added to my overall negative impression of the place. But I found the totally straight streets without trees that go on for many miles/kilometers to be sickening. I also come from a more established, chaotic urban/suburban model so it was almost an apples to oranges comparison. But that whole area had all the charm of going to the dentist.

Mississauga, though a suburb, is still a city nonetheless so I have no issue with it's inclusion in this thread. In another 10 years tops, it will rival some of the best skylines in North America.. It's already creeping up to them at a quick pace.

Forget Sunny Isles Beach. Take the sea out of the picture and what you have left wouldn't look out of place as a suburb of Moscow.

Buckhead is where it's at for Southern suburban skylines

New York tops ..

Then Chicago..

Loads of North American cities have nice photogenic cores then just collapse into a desert of carparks and malls and residential stuff lol

European cities have greater density.
