LA has a better skyline than Houston. Houston may have a larger skyline but its buildings are VERY bland and are too spread out.

Boston's skyline is quite nice. The views from the two opposite ends are quite different.

That's because LA has some nice geographical settings like mountains, etc plus it has The US Bank Tower. I don't think LA would have that nice skyline if it didn't have the US Bank.

Houston has some nice skyscraper especially the cathedral one. It's tallest building doesn't impress me that much even if it was design by I.M. Pei. On the other hand, Houston had a proposed supertall which resembled Philadelphia's tallest. It had a nice design but the project never pushed through.

I agree with you that the presence of the mountains really enhances LA's skyline. But even without the mountains, LA would still have a better skyline than Houston. Like I said before, Houston's skyline is VERY, VERY bland where as LA's skyline is denser, has more personality, and is more diverse in terms of shapes, colors, and designs.

Say what? There both a fine mix of bulky boxes and flat roof tops. If anything Houston's core appears to have more taller buildings. Los Angeles' tallest is only what 15 0r 17 feet taller than Houston's. Neither skyline is better than the other IMO. Merry Christmas.

Houston DOES have more tall buildings...but Los Angeles is denser. True. LA has many boxy buildings with flat rooftops as does Houston. But LA's skyline just has more variety as it shows in the picture I provided.

Los Angeles

Houston

Houston is more impressive in terms of height but the buildings are too simple and they don't have their own identity. Anyways, it's your opinion. Hope you had a nice time in Chicago and Merry Christmas to you too.

I'd like to also mention that I did not refer to boxes and or buildings with flat rooftops in a bad way. I'm very nuetral on the boxes, America.

1.Chicago really does it for me- Dynamic, ever-changing , incredible variety, history, instantly recognizable buildings, impressive height. It's almost like the skyline was formed delicately to please any enthusiast. These buildings were "cooked with love"
2. New York will always secretly be my #1 but that is just my biased opinion. It's a farmiliar site so it's tough for me not to be in love with it regardless of how "dated" folks think it is. It's been adding and filling itself up for 100 years and it isn't stopping anytime soon. This place has such a tremendous "head start" on the rest of the country. Untouchable really.

3. Toronto: Traveling there recently I am really impressed with the way things are going up there. The actualy skyline is huge and I might get my head chewed up on here for it but I actually find the skyline to be rather underrated. The Cn tower is finally becoming a central focal point with the city place construction and other developments south west of the tower.

And in no particular order

San Francisco
Philadelphia
Atlanta
Seattle
Los Angeles
Montreal
and Miami,Florida.

Those deserve mention as well.

This is why I think the NYC skyline is the best in the world. Chicago is a close second but Chicago's skyline is anywhere near the size and density of NYC's skyline. The Chicago skyline is more beautiful though but I like the sense of power the NYC skyline gives off. Also, no other city in the world does Art Deco and Beaux-Arts, my two favorite architectural styles, better than NYC! Finally, I love all the spires!

With mine, I would put NYC over Chicago. Yes Chicago has a nice cluster and does not have that multiple skyline feature that NY has but NY has some of the best skyscraper collection. NY is home to some of the world's greatest scrapers, The ESB and Chrysler.

WTC is gone but another supertall is taking it's place. Though I don't feel The Freedom Tower's design.
