Yes, that's correct. They're all just considered suburbs at this point.

This ranking should be pretty objective since I am European (been to all these cities, except Seattle, Boston and Dallas).

My personal top 10:

1. New York City (should be obvious)
2. Chicago (monumental buildings)
3. Philadelphia (probably my favorite, best overall "package")
4. Toronto (CN Tower + some nice tall buildings)
5. Atlanta (mostly high quality towers. I am bit biased though, used to live in the area and the ATL skyline reminds me somewhat of my hometown Frankfurt, Germany)
6. Seattle (Space Needle and pretty dense from most angles)
7. San Francisco (the bridge, the bay, and some nice towers)
8. Boston (not really spectacular, but it looks different than most other skylines, nice looking buildings)
9. Dallas (great illuminated skyline)
10. Charlotte (some real nice towers)

Honorable mention: Miami and Pittsburgh.

Great pic! One of the best skyline shots of Toronto I've seen so far on SSC. Too bad it has that watermark ...

Not the best quality, but check out the ice in New York harbor. Nice shot of 1 WTC and 4 WTC, too.

Do you really think Atlanta has a better skyline than LA ??

Charlotte is a few highrises then a desert ... Jeez ..

Houston must have a better skyline than half of your list lol

I'd also mention Minneapolis and San Diego and Montreal and Mexico City

You are right about Houston, never been there so I simply forgot to list it. Don't think LA is that great... I like the ATL skyline better, mostly because of the buildings. (been two both cities)
Personally, I wasn't really impressed by MTL's skyline at all when I visited the city a few years ago. The skyline is good but not Top 10 good. Minneapolis looks interesting, certainly a place I would like to visit.

San Diego looks beautiful but you'd never know that it was a metro of 3.4 million looking at its downtown. I would have guessed around 1 million or so.

if Atlanta's taller skyscrapers weren't so spaced apart it would easily be in my top 10.

Atlanta is starting to get pretty impressive.

San Diego could have a much bigger skyline if it wanted to like downtown Vancouver (i.e. lots of buildings, lots of density, but not very tall). San Diego is really expensive so there is probably a lot of demand for new construction, but something tells me it's NIMBY central, so...we'll see. At least LA and San Francisco are picking up the pace in California.
