It's a bigger city than San Francisco, has more freeways, has a better hockey team, and it's warmer too.
SJ is only bigger than SF when it comes to arbitrary city limits (which in SJ's case grew massively through annexation, while SF has been the same for 160 years). SF is much bigger in pretty much every other way: urban area, metro area (MSA), jobs, population density, economy, skyline, etc. It's a lot more well known than SJ is and it has a far bigger skyline, so it's not surprising there are more pics of SF in this thread. The Bay Area is polycentric, with SJ acting as one of the big 3 centers, along with SF and Oakland...but most people in the bay would agree that SF is the undisputed "main" center of everything.

And for the record, if you were to extend SF's borders south and/or to the east bay, so that it matched SJ's land area, it would have significantly more people than SJ.

But what do freeways, hockey teams, weather, or population have to do with anything? It's a skyline thread. Post pics!

San Jose doesn't even crack North America's top 100 skylines. That's why nobody posts pictures of it here.

Turns out it is. It's the Peter B Lewis building at Case Western Reserve U. http://www.galinsky.com/buildings/peterblewis/

OK, but it might be one of the top 1,000.
And if not, then one of the top 2,000.

(BTW, Are we talking about height of the tallest buildings, or subjectively perceived esthetics?)

I suspect that you guys are just jaded.
You ought to go visit the SJ development thread, where people get very excited over proposed 7-story buildings.
It's really lots of fun.

Too bad San Jose has that airport smacked right in front of downtown. Otherwise, I am sure we would have seen a few 40-story towers by now.

I agree completely with RaymondHood. There really is no restrictions on the ranking of a skyline to be included in this thread. Our goal is to learn about cities other than our own, so I'm always pleased to see smaller skylines included!! As RaymondHood says, it is all about having fun and really should not be taken too seriously, or worse still as a competition.

I would never call somebody out on a "restriction" so much as to say, you probably aren't going to be seeing too many skylines that statistically are out of the top 25-30, let alone top 100. However, anybody who wants to post pictures of skylines, please do so!

^ Agreed! And, as always, as a forum we are just the sum of the participants. If no one takes the time to source and post photos of a city they are interested in, we will rarely see that city. The best thing is to just go ahead and post photos rather than wondering why we don't see any!

Minneapolis and St. Paul. They are about 10 miles, or 16 km, apart.
