Probably the same occupancy rates as Dubai It almost looks like those mini-models of cities

The Detroit metro office vacancy rate is quite high (over 25%) but many of the older buildings in the CBD are getting converted into lofts and condos so while that market is slow right now, the momentum is toward more conversions, higher residential occupancies and eventually, a need for more Class A office space. It's a generational shift.

Pittsburgh's scenery couldn't be more beautiful, I mean those countless bridges... I hear Pittsburgh has more than Venice. Now if only some more (taller) skyscrapers would be built...

I've read when I was young that P'Burg had like over 400 bridges but I could only count 15

What's that large glass skyscraper in the middle of the photo?

That is the Goldman Sachs Building in NJ. Very similar to the IFC Building in Hong Kong designed by the same architect (except a fair bit shorter).

I'd love a 420 m version of that in Toronto. It's a very muscular looking building and would balance out the skyline well. We need a counter point to Canadian National.

A 420m version of that tower would look pretty much exactly like Number 2 IFC Tower in Hong Kong:

I do agree that we need a tower of this quality in Toronto (although not this exactly but rather something original). I've pretty much given up on that though because developers here don't seem interested in creating anything remotely iconic.

I actually prefer the proportions and detailing on the New Jersey building. A 420m version of that, but maybe a bit less squat. Regarding an iconic building for Toronto, I've almost given up as well. A lot will depend on how many businesses relocate to the core from the suburbs. No one can say we aren't patient; First Canadian Place has been Toronto's tallest for 37 years. When built it was the 6th tallest building in the world, now it's 76th.

This was taken from a condo ad. Toronto's skyline is starting to come together, but it really needs an exclamation mark or 2. Despite no proposals over 300m, I'm eagerly awaiting this view circa 2015.
