DISCUSS: Best North American Skyline

Whoever says Toronto's skyline is better than Chicago's is seriously on crack. I've been to Chicago and it is insane.

Personally I think Toronto has the 3rd best skyline in NA and always will be for the next 50 years. The only thing that all the current construction projects will do is cement that fact and not let anyone else take its spot. I'm happy with third! Toronto will look amazing in 5 years, but still won't compare. Trust

Minneapolis' skyline is average! Even Atlanta and San Francisco have better skylines! Honolulu no. 3! You're telling me that Honolulu's skyline is better than New York! That's a bunch of crap man!

New York still deserves the no.1 spot, followed by Chicago and Toronto

New York is not just quantity but quality as well! I wouldn't doubt why this city deserves the title

Chicago is no.2 and Toronto is no.3

Give Miami about 7 more years. If Flatiron, Sunspars, and/or Empire World Towers become a reality, Miami will certainly top the list. It's like a tropical Manhatten: a melting pot of cultures, ethnicities, and architectural influence(s). With a density per square mile living up to that of New York and Chicago, and a vertical expansion even into the suburbs, Miami is beginning to look more and more like a Hong Kong or Singapore in N. America.

I think Miami will more look like Singapore than HK

Anyway, what do you guys think of Atlanta as no.4 ? It has quality, nice cluster and height.

Philly is a good contender. San Fracisco has an impressive skyline but lack height. Only the Bank Of America and Transamerica are showing height.

Seattle has a nice geographical setting and some impressive skyscrapers.

Atlanta on the other hand has some nice supertalls and quality skyscrapers

In the first picture, it shows the big flat land, is that central Park? I feel it is damn amazing with tall buildings surrounding it and the nice big trees. It really looks beautiful during autumn.... Looks like Simcity hahaz.

It's because Miami has a sort of similar waterfront look as Singapore except SG is on an island.

New York and Sao Paulo is close to beating HK for density though Sampa skyscrapers lack height and quality compared to HK!

Some how Hong Kong always manages to get in these discussions, even if the thread is about North American skylines.

It's New York and Chicago fighting for the No. 1 spot with Toronto up there, but still in the distance. No other cities in North America deserve to be mentioned among those three at this point, IMO.

As for the HK... It won't ever be matched, quite frankly because even if you do match the post modern/futuristic architecture (nearly impossible) and even the density (even more impossible), you simply can't beat the natural surroundings. Manhattan is an island which is always nice, but the Hudson and East Rivers are rather dirty and very green looking. Chicago has a very nice setting, but its a lake. Miami has a great setting, but they just simply aren't going to compete with Hong Kong for the next century or so when it comes to skyline because American cities just don't build as fast, green light as many projects or build nearly as impressively as the better Asian cities of today.

Hong Kong is the densest, most technologically advanced and futuristic skyline in the world on an island with mountains, beaches and the harbour with the surrounding territories nearby and in the distance. And now there are significant projects on Kowloon, not just HK Island! The only thing is the pollution, but it isn't alone in that category among major world cities.
