Montreal has a decent skyline, but I think it's one of those cities that is way more impressive street level. Very beautiful city.

Although I know this is a Best NA Skyline thread, I would like to see the best the Prairie provinces has to offer, and even the Midwestern States. I think they're somewhat underrepresented here

Definitely between NYC and Chicago. I would say they are extremely close. I probably just prefer chicago a bit due to the setting, planning, and architecture. Chicago is more modern, which happens to be a architectural style i like better. Also, i love the way that their are beautiful parks from lake shore drive to michigan, then the skyscrapers start, and way up ahead you see skyscrapers. Its really the combination of parks and towering skyscrapers that makes me love it, and the way buildings like the Sears stand out. But I love NYC too, i would give chicago a 9.9 and NYC a 9.8. After that i would say 3. would probably be toronto at a distant 3rd. We Americans are spoiled to have the two best skylines in the world!

I agree. Montreal's architecture has always been second to none, and it remains that city's trump card. Montreal used to have one of the best skylines on the continent, but it really hasn't gotten much bigger since 1962. The prairie cities are a bit too small for this thread, but I'll post a few photos as you've asked.

The best skylines of the Midwest:

First is of course mighty Chicago:

(cbotnyse on photobucket)

Second in my view is Minneapolis:

(University of Minnesota)

The other Twin City, St. Paul

Detroit which has some amazing pre-Depression architecture:

Milwaukee

Cleveland looks great. Columbus looks tiny for a metro of 2 million.

My take on it:
1) New York: hands down number 1, an amazing collection of buildings from every era...
2) Chicago: What's not to like
3) Toronto: Downtown profile is growing like a weed, the best is definitely yet to come
4) Panama City: Very strong skyline: Central America's best...
5) Miami: Multiple skylines... Was there recently... Looking good
6) Vancouver: A beautiful balanced and dense downtown... Not tall but great nonetheless
7) Philadelphia: Wonderful collection of old and new... Underrated
8) Seattle: A very impressive downtown cluster... Looks good from every angle...
9) Atlanta: Next to Miami, the best southern US skyline...
10) San Francisco: Lovely city, great downtown with fantastic views from every direction...

That first Manhattan photo is one of the best I've seen. It's interesting seeing the Upper East Side in the foreground and you really get a sense of how wide Manhattan is.

Note: Several "smaller" projects like 56 Leonard, 90 Church, 50 West and Co. (all > 200m) are not included.
