Lower Manhattan is going to be beautiful once the new WTC is completed (along with 99 Church Str, 50 West etc.).

Toronto is amazing! It just needs a few supertalls! I can't wait to see what it'll look like in a few years

In my opinion:

1) Chicago (home town bias )
2) NYC
3) Toronto
4) Vancouver
5) Seattle
6) Calgary
Edit: 7) Panama
7) Houston
8) Philidelphia
9) Miami
10) Los Angeles

If someone mentions "style" or "classy" in terms of skylines, Chicago is the first city which comes to mind. This city is a feast for skyscraper and architecure lovers.

Didn't realize Chicago has a fairly large stock of red brick buildings. I generally only associated them with NYC and Philadelphia.

I love deep red brick. Brick in general looks great, but prefer richer colours over beige or white. Black, charcoal, or red are all good.

It's the result of changed building codes after the catastrophic fire in 1871. Other cities like St. Louis (1849 fire) that experienced the same thing have large inventories of brick structures. One reason why Buffalo's housing stock appears so decrepit is that they never had a major fire so ironically, they never had to mandate brick construction and thus have a flimsier housing stock than if a massive fire had destroyed the city.

How old is that "Old Toronto" picture? And is that portion of the waterfront in the picture part of the harbor that's currently in the rehabilitation process?

Bay-Adelaide is there, but Trump is missing so it's about 2 years old. The brown fields along the waterfront is the area being developed. It's called East Bayfront while the extreme eastern end north of that highway is called West Don Lands and is also being developed.

Is it too late to set some portions of Buffalo on fire? I'm going down there again this weekend ....

It probably is given that whatever burns down will likely not be rebuilt.

(Reuters/Gary Hershorn)The full moon rises over the skyline of Lower Manhattan and One World Trade Center in New York, as seen from West Orange, New Jersey, on May 6, 2012.

It's pretty jarring that the same state has perhaps the healthiest big city in the country (NYC) and a city like Buffalo that is just fading away....
