Indeed. Luckily some of them are being restored at least. I can't help but think that it's kind of funny that one of the better restorations (Staro-Nikolskoye) was carried out by the Chinese Communist Party Apparently they held one of their first congresses there in the 20s.

I noticed the Livadia Palace's interior does not really match with its exterior, any idea why?

Well, I suppose that the exterior and interior design fashion of the time weren't really synced. But I'm by no means an expert on the subject, I'm just an admierer of pretty buildings

Livadia Palace is the place there Yalta conference took place, when Roosvelt, Churchill and Stalin were deciding the future of post-war Europe. I heard it's still open for public, a nice and interesting museum. You can see the exact chairs and places where the biggest world leaders of the past were sitting on all their famous historic photos which went viral across the globe back then.
