Seeing as one of the official renderings of this 'tower' features a fat old rich guy bending over to pick up his top hat, I'd wager that this whole thing is a joke.

Not only structurally unsound, doesn't even have large enough floor plates for real apartments.
It was fun for a joke but the fact that several sites announced it as something that may sometime happen totally annoys me.

No, it is not. There are many other buildings that out of the ordinary concept we are used to in this thread which can easily pass for the same thing. Meanwhile, the term 'vision' is included on the title.

There is nothing wrong with the building and there is no evidence that we will not have the engineering skills and technology to build it in the future.

I hope it'll never be built. Don't want to be negative, but that's my personal opinion to this thing. Way too crazy. Or maybe I like it, it's pretty confusing. Spectacular design though.

Did they study the feasibility of this proposal from the structural engineering/construction point of view???

The Singer Tower couldn't be profitable because the floors were to small for the towers height. I see the same situation here with this one.

well, its appropriate that "Vision" is the status title of this idea, this building could not be constructed anywhere on this planet, with the expectation of it standing, the only idea that i can come up with to make the structure (as shown in the renderings) stand by itself would be an elaborate system of cable stays, that would have to be anchored in various locations of the city, many blocks away from the structure itself, not to mention the multitude of structures that would block the right of way of the cables to the anchor points,

So unless the creator of this plan has an undisclosed anti gravity device, this idea is not possible,

I believe that this is just the fruit of someone's imagination. And they do not intend to build anything like this.

This could have been raised before but am i right in saying a building ownes all the space above it in the sky? how does the planner propose to get over this? or are the little buildings between the two towers bought out too?

They would probably have to be torn down for the construction process anyway. Or at the very least vacated. They would have been so closely tied to the building above them that separate ownership probably would have been out of the picture at any rate.
